Yeah, you can't look at the stats and not see a better offense than last year. Is it Bama? Of course not. Is it a solid middle tier B1G offense rather than one of the worst offenses in the country? Definitely. McNamara is a huge step up and it shows
Hard to call anything in the second half a highlight for the Hawkeyes. They score two quick TDs in the 1st half and then Utah St starts to figure them out. Then in the 2nd half a subpar Mtn West team outscored them (11 to 7) in total Off Iowa was 284 and Utah St at 329. It's a win but very unimpressive considering the level of competition.
Iowa takes a comfortable lead with a gimpy QB playing in his first game in a new system. They take their foot off the gas in a significant portion of the second half on defense and offense and start playing a number of backups. 8 of the opponents points come as fans are practically filing out to the parking lot. End result is they put up 284 yards and win 28-14 instead of going for style points by putting up 350+ yards and winning 31 to 7. Not a new story.
