The zen of locks, and it's ABOUT TIME someone explained to boaters why they shouldn't use their boats to open lock gates. I do like a nice fry-up, but haven't been able to satisfy that urge in years.
My son and myself have been watching yourCanal boat diaries every night as his calm down time as it’s the only program that he will sit down to I am so pleased to find you on her as he can watch this as well at his school they have said he has come on so far as now he will talk and show an interest in learning they have even shown the shows in class thank you my boys now talking instead of squeaking
We cruised there a number of year ago to visit South Pennine Boat Club, lovely club there, went to club rally, lovely canal, we did struggle a bit on Calder & Hebble as our narrowboat was 60' and the locks only 57' but we managed to wangle our way through. Happy memories.
Very nice! Was getting a bit worried when you hadn't posted in a bit, then had a good laugh watching you note how many get into your videos. Yep, that many. Nice sampler of the beers at The Leggers Inn, and great pub name! Laundry and chow to round it all off, nicely done! 👍
Glad someone else likes to do the locks themselves. I get out of sync when people help and end up leaving paddles open etc. Good to see boats moving. Stuck near my mooring on the Caldon Canal. Closed for repairs last autumn and not reopening until the end of June at the earliest. Still, a very pretty stretch between Endon and Consall Forge. Enjoyed the C&H years ago.
Robbie I think you are a good youtuber your canal boat is lovely and I know a teacher at my school who lives in a canal boat keep it up with the vidioes and as always keep on crancking it

I've worked with my hands my whole life and operating a lock seems like fun to me. Even my wife want to do it, surprise. Hope I can do it someday. Saving for it, maybe next year. Thanks for your videos and of course the hard job of 'pub of the week'.
Just two of those Ale taster racks would be worth the price of admission alone. That is of course if that pub of the week charged an entry fee, Which obviously they don't, but if they... well you catch my drift ;) A velvety variety on your taste buds is the spice of life and all that jazz.

Always like coming along with you, looking over your shoulder as you either take me over old ground i have already covered over the years, or seeing the few bits, i never got to see, but never boring with you. Always good to come along, might hear some more of your great guitar musics haunting melodies.
If you need to stop water leaking between the closed lock gates, You can slide a barge pole down between the lock gates, it will really help stop water from leaking through. Obviously once you’re done, you remove your pole and proceed to crank it .🙂🐿🌈❤️

Robbie, have you tried closing the bottom gates, pulling your boat right back, then tie the centre line to the back bollard? I'm sure you must've. Works fine for me!
we are the same when people say go that route not many locks we find it boring except going to Birmingham bit to many locks but worth the trip have a look on my you tube on doing the canal rose painting :) do love your videos keep going :)
