The green and yellow B23-7 is a former Modoc Northern that ran out of Lakeview Oregon. That railroad fell apart overnight and who owns the CCET took over the line and got a few of their motors in the process. He transferred it over to the CCET and I believe it is a parts unit
@@robertf3479 I like the term we used in the Army: "hangar queen" -- a term for a piece of equipment more or less stored in the shop, and used for parts to keep other equipment going. Apparently it's easier than ordering the needed parts.
@@georgeadams1853 The Navy uses the same term and for the same reason. It might be that the B23-7 is old enough that prime mover parts are getting pretty scarce on the shelf, but she might have some parts commonality with the B36s, as strange as that might sound.
You’ve captured an interesting element of railroading design, the “wye”. Used in lieu of a turntable for turning steam engines for return trips. In mountainous terrain the railroads, for lack of space, would install a “wye” into a tributary off the major river to turn locomotives and those facilities spawned housing and restaurants for engine crews which later developed into towns. There are several examples of these “wyes” turned into towns in WV and KY. Thanks Jaw for this video.
Examples of these “wye” communities include: Naugatuck and Iaeger, WV and Martin, KY. There are others as well. Being at the head end of long rivers, each wye provided an opportunity to turn steam locomotives and now diesels for return trips downstream without needing a turntable. They morphed into towns as facilities for train crews expanded and railroad maintenance shops arrived.
@@richarddrum9970 NS has a wye in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville. It lies between the K&I Bridge, Youngtown Yard and a slip that leads to the CSX-LIRC-PAL interchange.

Glad to see they have more locomotives in service now and got a third one painted in the CCET color scheme. I watched this video on my phone using a studio grade set of headphones to listen to tye audio. Those engines really sound good over the headphones. It was funny, when they set off with the gondolas to Macon honking the horns, some roosters crowed in response. The kitty was cute. Lots of attitude.
Nice to see your local shortline active enough with many engines to send them out on different moves along the line! Our local shortline has a couple engines but they always go out together when they do.
That was really interesting watching 6 of the 7 locomotive fleet. Look forward to when they get the green locomotive up and running. Interesting to see the green up close. Hopefully, they will leave it in its original livery long enough for us to see it. Norfie is such a softie, looks like she has pinched someone's bed ! Have a great weekend. Great excellent video, mr Jaw Tooth. The green locomotive, i have a book ( in the dutch language) the machine from Southern railways. Now i see him on this video, awesome. Next video, mr Jaw Tooth. Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
Great video JT of the local switching of locomotives. I'm surprised though that they'd put one of the GP15'S back in storage etc. Are they not going to put the stripe on #3512 like the other 2? Now if they'd get #5857 painted the same way that fleet would definitely be stout! Nice job catching this for us JT!
You should come to Piqua and video the unloading of plastic pellets at the Piqua siding and then tour the Crayex plant! From train to plant to finished product.
Same here! That game was the best one ever! I couldn't believe it. The 52 yard field goal, the stop at the 1 yard line, the interception. Burrow is from Athens Ohio which isn't very Far East of me
I've been going past there every day where the locomotives have been setting and that locomotive 5857 it had been running for a couple of days out there, great video it's nice to see all those locomotives up around Sardinia, it was really nice to see the trains coming into Mt Orab picking up the new rail cars at trinity industries where I use to work at for years
Perfect time switching , moving trains on the line engineer packing a power point we gotta make that connection they're next going back into the storage they're about to fix it up around in sardinia is a Y 1 switch
Nice to get a good look at that SD40-2, I really like their paint scheme!! Be careful out there this week JT, we've got some nasty weather coming in mid week!!
Thank you JawTooth for sharing your railroad videos with us railfans. Also I love seeing your pets especially your adorable kitty cat. I think I heard you call your cat Chessie, is that correct? Anyway thank you again for sharing, God bless you!

I am pleased that you continue filming the CCET. I'm in the UK, and we don't have the equivalent of short lines over here. It's nice to see how a short line operates.
Maybe I`m wrong, but it didn`t sound like the 2nd and 3rd locomotives were even running when they left for Cohen. Curious as to why you would tow that much extra weight if you didn`t need to, especially when you are only pulling 6 empty cars.
This was a very interesting video of all the switching taking place in Sardinia, Ohio on the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad. I wonder why they decided to take one of the GP15-1s and set it out in Sardinia and then add the B30-7 in its place. Thank you for documetning these moves in Sardinia, Ohio, Jaw Tooth!
Glad you enjoyed it! I think they were taking the B30-7 with the SD40-2 to set up for a rock train. The other GP15-1 was going to do some local work and then return, I believe
SD40-2 #3512 looks good in those colors though I think it needs the stripe on its' sides, sounds good too. I'm wondering why none of the GEs have received the Black and Scarlet paint scheme. Maybe waiting until they're overhauled?

I read the same thing about #1011 being a "parts donor" for the other two GE units.
I used to live in Alturas California, I used to watch those locomotives for the Modoc Northern go by constantly
