Hello friends! I am still distance learning via Zoom and I have a lot of videos about my lessons this year on my other channel, Becca’s Music Room check it out here: ua-cam.com/channels/j2IP31nc3ehLU--_ze8CbQ.html
Love these! First year teacher here trying to convert everything I know about elementary music into an online setting..... feeling a bit crazy but this helps a lot! Thanks so much!
Girl, everyone feels like that their first year! No matter how this year went, you’d still be searching for lessons and feeling crazy. Don’t stress! Try to just have fun with your kiddos
Thanks so much - produced heaps of music lessons via video.. now been asked to teach live lessons to year 3 and 4 here in Melbourne.. these are great ideas. Thanks!
Wow, thank you! I had fun listening to you and all these tips are helpful. I'm in my first year of teaching music and the online live setting is definitely not easy. Thanks a lot!
So helpful! I'm teaching a small group of kids for the first time in a couple of days, and these are all really great ideas! I can't wait to try them out!
I host zoom parties for my daughter and some friends. They had been going to a school but that’s all been locked down. I got really busy with other stuff this week but having watched your video it’s going to look like I’ve prepared really well. Thanks for the help Becca!! Oh and, I’m totally taking credit for all the ideas ;)
Omg..this was much needed for my online music class tomorrow. I especially like the "sing one line and kids sing the next" idea, as well as guessing song titles and drawing while listening to different types of music. Thank you x10, Becca!
Hello Becca, thanks for sharing all of these great ideas about Teaching Music online. It really helps me here in Bali. I'm teaching Music for Primary school kids and still have online learning since the pandemic of Corona getting worse here. I really loves your video and learnt a lot from you. Thank you and Enjoy teaching online with your students too. Keep the spirits on and God Bless you always.
It has been a year we've been doing this virtual classes and tbh, I'm starting to run out of ideas, so I really, really have to thank you for your content. This is VERY helpful!
Thanks so much for this! It's the last few weeks of school where I live and I am running out of ideas. These activities will help me to go the distance.
Hello there, Becca, and I loved your video, you gave me some good ideas for this College Class that I am in, and also I loved your Be Our Guest, pillow that you have in this video. And it is from Disney's Beauty and the Beast, too.
I really like these ideas. We're starting school in school, however, there's a good chance we could go on line again. Also, with all the social distancing these ideas work well in the classroom as we're doing music on a cart. K-4 Elem teacher....Rosine
Hi there! Just wanted to say thank you for your ideas! Until last week, we found out we would be teaching until end of June online and as a fellow music teacher, I was panicking solid! What do I do with no instruments, circle games and all that good stuff? You've fueled me with resources until the summer!! Thank you thank you thank you! :D
Right?! My principal keeps talking about things being normal next year and I’m like.... but will they? We are too. I have toooons of distance learning content on my other channel ua-cam.com/play/PLVXTrtPmFvXtDTnyRhXexUrrueVtVzI8h.html
Hi Becca! Thank you so much for the ideas! When in a live session what do you do for sound so that the kids can hear you in addition to a song you are playing for them?
I try to play songs from my phone so that my audio and my voice are on the same zoom. If we are watching a video and sharing the screen, I don’t talk while it’s on because the audio will freak out.
Thank you. I have been teaching for a long while and I am looking for new ways to teach. This was great. My question is how do you deal with the lag time in Google Meet. When I try to do a video or music listening, the recording is tinty and warped and laggy and... these are just some of the great adjectives that my kids have used to describe it. Ideas?
They can be glitchy but honestly..... we just go for it anyway. As long as it’s watchable they don’t complain. I also use zoom now. I’m not sure if that makes a difference
MUTE ALL. It seems mean but the way Zoom is you literally cannot let the kids unmute unless they’re are talking. I play. They play. I only hear myself.

Because my country in in war and school is canceled.
One question: How do you deal with multiple kids playing instruments? (Like the exercise to find something to tap, shake, or scrape)
MUTE ALL. It seems mean but the way Zoom is you literally cannot let the kids unmute unless they’re are talking. I play. They play. I only hear myself.
Here is an end of the class song you can use also! ua-cam.com/video/SM7_690xar4/v-deo.html
Do you know how to play guitar?
Not well! I can play it a bit but not a lot. I like ukulele waaaay better!
Aww so good
Glad you thought so!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful ideas!!!
You’re welcome!
