The goop in portal 2 was using metaballs, which smooth the physical geometry. As a result, they look polygonal. This looks to be smoothing the rendered result with some kind of shader, so it definitely looks better. One thing I'm noticing, though, is that it doesn't smooth the outline of the shape on screen--only the interior. They still look like individual balls on the edges.

Now we just need some water splash sounds for the liquid
For how well I think I understand the source engine, (in terms of what it might or might not be able to do since I'm not a coder or anything) you really make me doubt that. Pretty damn cool for what you've gotten so far with GWater 2.
I've not used GWater in a while (bearing in mind that this is GWater2), but viscosity (how sludgy it is) and particle stickiness (how "damp" it makes the surface; how much friction the particles have with regard to the surfaces they touch) were already features. Frankly, marketing it as "GWater" is a mistake. If you can tip it out of a bucket, Mee can probably replicate its physicality. I've been watching these videos for months, and I still don't understand how they do it. Goddamn wizard.

I think that this water would look much better than the first gwater if the water would darken deeper. You understand? the more water, the darker it is

Will there be a lot of optimizations for the addon so it can run near-perfect on lower-end systems?

It runs 60+ fps (you can see the actual framerate in this video) on my hardware which is from 2014. I have a gtx 970 for comparison

This might be a bit odd but if you are okay with sharing and see this; Is this a hobby? What other features are to come? IF I recall it is capable of having an effect on props; What about players? Do you believe map creators will try and take initiative with your GWater2 and apply it to their maps and try and make a new experience that is all built around it, yet if not them would you make a little obstacle course or something along those lines?

1. Yes it is a hobby and eventually I will release it early on patreon. (The final version will be free and open source though) 2. It will work for players but only for their footsteps since a fullbody collider didn’t play well 3. I doubt it because its a module install, but you could build one if you wanted

the visual improvement over GWater1 is *insane* keep up the great work :D
Its so strange see this with a such old engine
it truly is tho
two more papers down the line and this will look real
fucking awesome. I wanna drink it.
This is my kingdom come
i can see the improved performance and ofc smoothness of the water is 10x better i have no clue how your doing it but keep it coming this is great
Man this almost looks better than the fluids in portal 2. Or maybe it just straight up does look better, hard to tell.

Its powerful but difficult
@mee4116 Seems like it would be some sort of tight rope with what works and what doesn't. Keep going man!
that looks amazing! do you think you could make it where you could change the viscosity of the liquid? i think that would be awesome
Pretty sure that already is a thing

reminds me of zibra liquid/real time liquid simulation. good job
