- A morning for the books! This remote Sumatran beach break is known to be quite fickle, but the conditions really came together a couple of days ago producing flawless waves all morning. A talented crew of pro surfers were out there, and all got their fair share of deep tubes.

Whooaa this is Krui, Sumatra. I went for vacation there, somehow instead of buying souvenir i bough land nearby the beach there hahaha
My heavy beach break days are over, but a few of these looked fun and semi-manageable. No wetsuit is a definite plus!
And so crazy to see such a high quality wave with so few people out. Great to see people scoring and living the dream

Stayed here at mandiri many times over the years. Picks up heaps of swell but can be a shit of a paddle when it gets much bigger than this
Is it outside Krui? Not a surfer, but been through there before years ago on a bicycle. Beautiful spot. Surprised to see how much busier the road looks now.

@@jerrybow8779 very cool area. You head down the road a couple hours and the jungle there still has tigers. Maybe highest concentration on the whole island. Sumatra is a cool spot for many. Hell on a bike, but not a wasted effort. Beautiful place.

Amazing!! The best beach break in the world, in my opinion, is Supertubos in Portugal, followed by Hossegor in France, although way more flickle. But Supertubos works at every tide, with any wind from N to E. A beachbreak must be consistent to be the best in the world. Playa Colorados in Nicaragua does not look back either haha.

@@solmartica4831 I did forget Escondido and thought about it afterwards. Does it work properly at head high too? I know a very good surfer who was there a week ago, 10 to 14ft waves, mostly on the head. Maybe the best for chargers

Too hard to say where the best beachie in the world is IMO. My home break gets like this a few times a year, then you’ve got places like Stradie, France, and the king - Puerto Escondido

Nah Donkey Bay, Namibia in terms of waves.
It does break on sand but it's a point break haha. The Superbank in Australia is similar.
Shiiit, I've forgotten better waves than that. Ain't sayin it's bad, but that title is quite a claim.
But, it is a shitty day.

I have been visiting the area for 10 years and Mandiri beach gets a LOT better than this. But alas it's usually howling on-shore or cross shore. Even April to May do not always produce the right winds. Fickle like all the waves in the Krui area. Without consistency can't be called World Class.

You went at probably the worst time of year for the beach break. Try April - June for your best chance at scoring it
