As for the end of your video, i started the game with Dromai, after taking an unmodified Blitz Precon to an armory and went 2-2. I mean, dragons are cool! I ended up cracking open enough cards to give Fai a chance, but never really felt like I had a main hero until i started feeling good with Iyslander, shortly before she hit LL. I picked up Kassai during Heavy Hitters, then got extremely excited when Nuu got announced! I had been wanting to pay assassin ever since the class came out, but never felt they were good enough in my meta. After all of this, I figured out that a common thread in the heroes I liked, are heroes that utilize odd timings of the game, where it's less upfront any what you're doing. I liked Iyslander because she played on her opponent's turn. I liked Kassai over Dorinthea because Kassai utilized the React step much better. Assassins also utilize the React step heavily, and combine that with disruption pay that I've always been a fan of, and Nuu just really feels like a perfect fit for me. Still, I am very excited for Chaos Assassin to come out, to the point I've already doubled up on all the non talented Assassin cards (expect Codex of Frailty😭) so that I can run either hero whenever I want to.
Lots of fun heroes on the horizon! Changing heroes isn't a bad thing, I often encourage it once you've gotten some swappable staples since it allows you to learn the meta better. But playing what you love is important above all else lol
Illusionist feels like the one class that you can't really have a "class specialist" for. They're the only class that doesn't have a non-talented hero, and each hero leans so heavily into their talent that there isn't a ton of overlap in deck construction, except for some equipment pieces. I think there's an argument to be a class specialist for everyone else, though! On a different note, I think Mechanologist is the only CC class without a talented deck.
Phantasm has been an overall Illusionist keyword, along with Spectra. I just feel that the illusionist gameplan has always been "boardstate" and that is what I would see in an Illusionist Specialist
I agree as an IL main its board state and our numbers are the highest in the game but with a negative side effect. Prism being phantasm/high cost auras and running yellows, dromai running reds and not able to defend dragons and generating ash enigma being auras have ward so opponent can interact with you to interact with the board and she doesn't have alot of good blocking cards. Usually illusionist has what I call the illusionist curse. MUs you are good in you are usually overwhelming good, MUs you are bad in are terrible.
