Reminder for Surecast: one of the main things that you can use it on is on Paralysis effects. If you Surecast, the stun of it is ignored. Great to combo with Esuna to make sure you get off the cleanse!

Nothing like being a black mage and purposefully putting your ley lines on the exact boundary of an aoe, only for a healer to rescue you 10 miles away from the lines when you were already safe.

Bro I don't even use it on someone till they've died 3 times consistently at this point, if I notice they're playing bad or don't know the fight I let them learn while trying to keep them full hp with a barrier, and yes letting them die helps them learn.

Basically never use rescue unless a person is 100% not able to dodge an aoe, because of stun/charme, etc, or is sprinting to you and struggling to get to the save zone, or obviously doesn't know a mechanic and is standing in a wrong position because of it and would die from it.
Otherwise Rescue can be really disorientating and a heal after someone getting hit by an AoE that doesn't kill is often the better solution instead.
And never ever rescue Black Mages. They have their own ways of dealing with situations xD

+1 for the Black Mage notice. BLM have a reverse rescue button in a very short cooldown that is an oGCD on top of that. If you are in a safe position and the BLM didn't moved to your side, that's on them.
      Everyone else is fair game.

I seem to remember that the final Healer Role Quest in Shadowbringers forces you to use Repose for some goddsforsaken reason. That's literally the only time I used it and had to add it to a bar.

Another thing Rescue is not for: tugging tanks along because they're not pulling as fast as you prefer. If you'd like them to go faster, ask. If they refuse or remain silent, suck it up or leave.

Thank you for this video. I always like to check if I know everything I should know as a healer. ❤️
I can’t get the hang of using rescue. I don’t use it most of the time, unless the player is about to be kicked off the platform and assuming I’m in a safe spot and the tank is fine! Surecast is still something I’m working at too. It requires you to know the boss action that needs it! If you repeat the same battles over and over you’ll eventually get the gist of it. Of all of it really. Probably. 😅

In Deep Dungeons you can sleep enemies and run 2(or 3?) rooms away from them to lose aggro.
Saves time and potentially entire runs in later floors.

    • @WeskAlber
      @WeskAlber  2 роки тому +6

@@WeskAlber The outrunning the aggrorange only applys to mobs that where spawned via a Summoning Trap and only works if you did only sleep them. Once you damage them in any way they'll chase you till the end of the world. So a super-niche case, yet still good to know.

    -troll my FC during roulettes
-in the sunken temple of qarn if someone doesn't know you can clear doom by standing on the platform you can rescue them into it
-you can pull people into stack markers

    Hi, message from the future.
    Two notes about Dawntrail.
    1. Repose can be used to inturrupt a large AoE from a miniboss mob in the level 99 dungeon.
    2. Esuna is now instant cast so it is now technically a movement tool.

in some lower level dungeon runs, if a tank doesn’t use Interject or Low Blow and I see an enemy that needs something interrupted, a Swiftcast + Repose can do the job. good enough in a pinch! looking at you, that one last enemy with the “Seduce” cast in Sirensong Sea. works up to higher level dungeons on some enemies as well. there’s the risk of having them die from not using mits in some of those cases but I like to live dangerously.

White Mage can use swift cast, thin air, then raise to cast raise for no mp cost. Thin air has to be after swiftcast because thin air makes the next action cost no mp and does not waste swift cast because thin air is an ability not a spell.

The big use I can think of for Repose and Sleep is when you're farming Star Rank mobs in Bozja and Zadnor. Lost Death and Ordained, while more successful together, can still miss, and this is the tool to help ensure you don't get turned into a snack for a big monster that WILL outrun you and promptly one-shot you. Great for farming higher value fragments for Chainspell and Assassinate.

I use rescue sometimes out of nowhere in dungeons to pull someone... not because i want to anger them but to get me used to pressing the button and to remember that i even have it.
I only to that to people i know tho.
PS: i am switching from tank to healer atm so i am not used to all of that stuff yet.

Rescue is the one healer tool I refuse to use unless I'm in VC with the person and have their permission to use it. I have had too many people yell at me for saving them from dying because "They were going doing the mechanic correctly".
Such as one case, I rescued a person out of the flying train in one of the nier raids which is an instant death, reason for the rescue is they died to it before and they were about to die to it again. after the rescue they told me to go away in colorful language and left the raid. Even in VC I have had people yell because I rescued them when they were about to die trying to greed out damage ruining their combo. So it has adapted to be a skill in the corner of the screen that I rarely ever use now.
Tip to most healers learn to use the tool but never use it as it creates a lot more issues than it solves.

I’ve used it on a sprout once or twice during an alliance raid. At first I thought he was trolling but then I noticed his erratic movements and the sprout 🌱 symbol. Bud was just chillin and stacking with the other team. Couldn’t party wide heal and run across the map to heal/revive. So ended up running and grabbing him before the big AOE went off.

I never got the point of surecast until doing Shiva's extreme fight. Her arena's walls may not kill you but the freeze certainly will with the team we had(not disparaging them since it was some of the most fun I've had in ffxiv we just were shit enough to wipe 5 or so times). The worst part of the walls was an attack she had that pushed you towards them which either froze you outright or forced you to reposition which look at that the floor is ice and you just slide into the wall yourself idiot. Surecast and not moving at all were gifts from Hydaelyn when it came to not eating shit and probably dying from freeze dot

I've used rescue to help people catch up in dungeons who fell far behind, they never complain, however I never use it outside of that. Well I lied occasionally you get chill alliance raid groups who are all having fun doing pvp with consent. Edge rescuing will always be fun on your friends. I miss having friends who play this for that exact reason.
