It doesn't look aggressive or assertive to me. My dachshund who's usually extremely chill, was exactly the same the first couple of times the puppies got carried outside in the yard. The fact that the puppy is no longer inside its den/box where the mom can constantly check on them knowing its safe and put, and instead suddenly able to run away from her is stressing. She'd hurry around in between them, and the moment any pup started running a bit too fast or play too wildly, she'd try to pin it and bring it back to its den to get a feel of control of the situation. Looks more like she was trying to pick it up to lift it back inside - but since the pup kept twisting she couldnt get her mouth over the neck/shoulder area from behind that allows her to lift it without hurting it. This is the dog equivalent to getting annoyed at your toddler when it won't let you put its seat belt on it the carrier seat.
More like to be aggressive. Pushes him around until he shows some fight in him. Does make you wonder if a pitbull can be friendly if it is not co-oped into being aggressive.
