Swallowing sound adds to the savory beer experience. You are just adding another level/dimension of realism for the viewers! In fact, it makes me want to go grab a home brew right now,
I'm digging you guys' approach and thoughts on the style. I've still not been a huge fan of NEIPAs and I really think it's because they are overly sweet for my taste. I really like the idea of drying them out more, doing high sulfate amounts as opposed to chloride, and then even adding some more west coasty type of hops so it's not just a fruit bomb. Sounds so much more drinkable. It's almost more like a hybrid west coast / New England style. Cheers!
Hey guys! Great review, I did a not smash late addition pale ale/ ipa cross and at 60 added some EKG, not to add IBU but it create a slight base to the overall hop profile. Turned out good Cheers 🍻
Haha, awesome. I saw these new at our local home brew shop and had to try them. So I just brewed with them last week! I'll be kegging it in a week. Will be dry hopping it in a few days. 5 ounces total, all southern passion.
Hey Brew-Dudes, thanks for the videos. I have a request for your already too long list of future projects. How about doing a series of SMaSH beers with the same hop, but change the malt, yeast, etc? Last summer I did a two-hearted clone split into 3, 1gallon fermentors with different yeasts & dry hopping methods. All were very distinct according to my homebrew club. What do ya think?
All good ideas. While that isn't exactly on the list I think some of the upcoming ingredient experiments will help satisfy you! All we need is time. Cheers! -Mike
I'm drinking a pale ale I made a few weeks back that had a pretty even mix of Southern Passion and Zappa hops. It really came out nice. Those aren't cheap hops either!
In my limited experience, I think of Mosaic and Citra as "dank" hops when used in the boil. Galaxy too. Simcoe is "dank" but the pine character blows out everything else... Just my opinion.
I have a a four ounces of Southern Passion that I'll be throwing into a pale ale. My description is rather different...but closer to your aroma/flavor description: passion fruit, guava, red berries, melon, grapefruit.

Mike, it's soon marts. You gotta do that NEIPA for your brother in law, with eldorado like you talked about. Thanks for yet another great vid. Skål
Brew on!
Funny comment about the swallowing 😂 I notice it too. Great video.
Right?!
In your guys opinion what would be a list of “Dank” hops?? You mentioned Columbus, Simcoe and chinook is there a chart out there that has them listed?
Try this chart from BYO. VERY comprehensive and detailed. byo.com/resource/hops/ hope it helps!

Apollo is another one that may be dank - I need to brew a SMaSH. - John
