  • This 2022 MINI Cooper S LCI 2 finally gets the sound it deserved! The difference in volume is amazing with just a small (and inexpensive) modification. Still perfectly discrete at low RPMs and absolutely no drone effect at highway speed. This is just how the car should have sounded right out of the dealership.
    Thanks for watching,

    Hello, sorry, I have a mini exactly the same and I want to know what you changed: the intermediate silencer, the particulate filter or the downpipe?

    • @tommiforna
      @tommiforna  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi! I removed the centre pipe (the one with the particulate filter) which is between the downpipe and the rear silencer and replaced it with a free-flow one (so no more particulate filter). In order to do so you to cut the stock rear silencer-centre pipe because it is all in one piece

    Hi, very nice. Thanks for this video. The mod is something can be done only at workshop? Is the ECU not blocked? They say me the new Bosh ECU are blocked. Can you please help me to understund how I can do it? Thanks

    • @tommiforna
      @tommiforna  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you! I did the mod through a workshop and, for what I understood, it’s not an ECU map (since the Bosch ECU is blocked) but it’s just a mode on the car software itself! They connected the car via the OBD port and modded the software without mapping the ECU

    Amazing mod ! Does it drone ? Have you got any inboard videos ?

      Thank you! I am very happy with the results too! No drone at all, non even at highway speed so it’s totally usable on a day to day basis! I will record a onboard video as soon as possible, hopefully in the next few weeks!

    Its not an LCI 2. Its an LCI 1 pre 2018 version

    • @tommiforna

      Hi! This is a model year 2022 LCI 2, you can see it from the shape of the rear bumper!
      The LCI 1 have a more rounded rear bumper on the sides, and the pre 2018 comes without the opf as standard so there would be no need to have it removed

      Nice sound. But i still think the best stock sounding cooper s would be from 2014-2017. After 2018 the pops are gone… check my video u can see my 2016 stock exhaust. I can’t choose between muffler delete or a downpipe. Anyone have experience? My car pops nice and loud stock, i am imagining how is would be with an exhaust upgrade.

    • @tommiforna
      @tommiforna  4 місяці тому +1

      Your car sounds really good from stock actually! Unfortunately after 2018 there is the OPF responsible for killing the sound and especially all the pops and burbles! But with the mods I did (opf delete and pops and burbles activation) it finally sounds like it should! You can hear all the pops in “sport” mode in the final part of my video

      @@tommiforna i think with only a downpipe the sound will be much better. The pops will get louder, dont need to get a pops bangs remap

      Yeah that’s for sure! Would you have a down pipe with a sport catalytic converter or a straight through one (de-cat)?

    How did you accomplish this? Researching a good exhaust for my own MINI and this sounds right up my alley @tommiforna

    • @tommiforna
      @tommiforna  4 місяці тому

      The mod is very simple (and not that expensive), just removing the opf and replace it with a “normal” link pipe. The catalytic converter and rear silencer remain untouched but the result is surprisingly good!

    • @tommiforna
      @tommiforna  4 місяці тому

      The cost is around €200/250 for the link pipe and all the work done at the workshop

    • @tommiforna
      @tommiforna  4 місяці тому +1

      I’m sorry I don’t have any picture but it’s literally just a straight link pipe without the opf! In order to install it you have to cut the stock exhaust though since the OPF link pipe and the rear silencer come all in one piece
