    The pens look fantastic! My favorite is the spalted tamarind. It goes nicely with the gunmetal finish. Funny thing, though... I've never seen the mandrel mounted in the scroll chuck. Is it not a Morse taper, to fit directly into the lathe? Anyway, beautiful job on the pens. 👍

      Thank you, yes the Mandrel is 2 MT and can fit directly into the drive in the headstock. But it can be held in a 4 jaw chuck, the jaws will mark the taper but not to the detriment of using it directly in the headstock.
      I hold it in the chuck, purely because I was being lazy and not taking the chuck off the lathe.
      I wouldn't hold a drive centre in the chuck if I needed to do spindle work close to the headstock end as there is too much risk of catching either tool or fingers in the chuck.
