I read that Hofner put the frets through the binding. So they would have put the binding on first. That's what I read anyway. But then it's the chipping underneath the frets.

Thats a really beautiful guitar and you made it ever more beautiful and also very nice to play as well. It was probobly worth the cost of that job. Btw a little detail. I see that you use a small tuner when you do the intonating part of the set up, a korg pitchblack. I have the rack mounted version. Every luthier that i know has either a peterson strobe or a rackmounted tuner. Do you ever consider one of those or do think that that tuner will do the job. I think the every tuner is great to intonate exept for the sheap clip on tuners but for a luthier it may be better with the strobe or one of those korg rack tuners that is placed somewere on the working bench or being mounted on the wall permently with a instrument cable already hooked to it. Ive seen it on a lot of videos. I mean istead of have a small tuner laying on the table and maby be in the way when you are doing the set ups. A lot of luthiers start with a small one and upgrades to a pro tuner.
Im not a luthier amd no hard feelings, i was just thinking about that. Maby you will invest a pro tuner when you can afford it.
I have many tuners but i do really need one or two just to tune up as i dont really do set ups just the basic things myself, checking the intonation when im changing strings... thats why i have the rack one cause it is very accurate...and they look like spaceships when they are on...and its easier to see the needle from a distance.

Hi... Money is not an issue: I just like a small portable tuner and it has a strobe function. I may but the Peterson StroboPLUS HDC in the future. Regards, Victor...

Likely to be a 1950s Hofner due to no adjustable truss rod and old style pickups.

£400 for all that work is good value imho. You do great work and you warranty your work too. I would not have a heart attack if the bill was that much for all the work you did anyway. That guitar is now good for another 50+ years. £400 isn't much to pay for that kind of legacy imho.

I re-worked the neck on mine - 1958 President - to make it easier to play and it has stayed straight for 40 years. That's a lovely burst pattern. Much better than Epiphone bursts. The acoustics of these Hofner's are beautiful. You can buy the electronics panel, but it's expensive.

Is that the first time that you've seen a Hofner guitar?

Nope! Why would you ask that? It may be the first time I have had one in the shop. Victor...
