    Thanks a bunch Ben, I'm an artist and this is all I need to record my own vocals when it comes to my vocal chain. Glad I watched this, because I have the arrow and boy am I glad I didn't have to come out of pocket for the uad twin would've been a waste of money for myself.

    If you have an Arrow and (for example) want to do some intense master bus processing within Console, you could just use one plugin within console at time and keep reprinting and processing more (while adjusting gain within the DAW post Console tracking). Doing this you'll be able to process with however much UAD plugins you want versus running out of DSP power with 2-3. Sure it may take longer but this way you'll still be able to process with as many UAD plugins you want. Problem solved.

    How about running the interface through Logic, only using say the preamps and maybe another plugin. Then using your software plugins(Waves) in Logic on top of that?
    Will it allow you use a combination of the 2? Worth noting I'm on the new M1 Macbook, so processing isn't an issue really 😊

      sure you could do this. you would set the inputs up in UAD console if you wanted to use unison preamps, then you would add the other plugins as required in Logic. Only thing is that native plugins will all add latency when tracking. That's one of the huge advantages of UAD stuff its latency free as the hardware takes care of it all. But yeah you can combine different manufacturers plugins no problem

    It would be great if you could show how a Solo could work along with a UAD-2 Satellite USB ...when the Solo has an amp sim like the Friedman's that takes it all and all the FX have to go elsewhere.

    Hi Ben, broad question if I may. How good is the UAD Solo or Twin at capturing quality, professional audio. With and without the plugins. Perhaps when compared to, say, a Focusrite Clarett. Very useful video, thanks!

    • @BenHartwellGuitar
      @BenHartwellGuitar  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah no worries. All the UAD stuff is industry standard, top of the line stuff. The preamps and the A to D conversion are superb. In my opinion they are the best on the market. The best thing is that without a unison preamp they are a totally clean great sounding pre, but with a unison pre you can turn it in to a Neve or SSL or Helios.

    Hi Ben, great content!! Very helpful, i am looking forward to get one of these, i have a fast track pro m-audio for a long time, so it will definetly be an improvement… i was wondering, since i am a very begginer in the mixing/recording universe, do you think the Twin Duo will be enough or the Quad is too much? How many plugins does the Twin Duo can run, i am planning, to use the plugins on maybe three guitars, bass, drum samples, vocals, overdubs, and so on, not at the same time tho… can i use the uad plugins, after the tracking, without using the Apollo Dsp, using the computer ram?

    • @BenHartwellGuitar
      @BenHartwellGuitar  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks dude! Yeah the twin is great, if you can afford a quad definitely get one. The extra DSP is always worth it. You can use some of the new plugins that run native on the computer, but only a few different plugins are available.

  • @DarrenCampbellmusic
    @DarrenCampbellmusic 2 роки тому +1

    Sorry if this is a silly question but just trying to understand how UAD stuff works.
    If you record vocals, with these plugins being ran on the Apollo interface, are the plugin effects printed into the audio? So could you then remove a plugin to regain DSP space for a new track, but still have the previous plugins retained within the previous audio track you recorded? Hope that makes sense!

    • @BenHartwellGuitar
      @BenHartwellGuitar  2 роки тому +2

      yeah you can totally do that. If you are in Luna you can choose plugins you want to print and plugins you just want to monitor thru, all at near zero latency. Then when you disarm the track the DSP from those recorded plugins is available for something else. You can do pretty much the same with any DAW and the UAD console software too

    Thank you! So helpfull! Can you use the universal audio plugins that came with the audio interface with the cpu processor? I have two quesitons, if you can answer me I’d be very gratefull… If the audio interface do not have midi ports, can you use midi by usb and the ports of the interface for instruments at the same time without problem in you daw? I’m between the Apollo Solo and Arturia audiofuse, which one you recommend? Is latency a big issue? Well, sorry if it is too much hahaha just answer if you can and want… Have a nice day!

    • @BenHartwellGuitar
      @BenHartwellGuitar  3 роки тому

      Thanks dude. No you can't use UAD plugins with the CPU, only UAD hardware. Yeah I've used a small midi keyboard over USB in Luna no problems. As for which interface, it depends what you really need. If you need more inputs then maybe the Arturia, if you want to use UAD software and luna then maybe the Solo. Hope that helps

    basically, anything that has complex things such as harmonic distortion, it tanks the DSP.
    But if you stick with regular EQs and compressors, you get an average of 4-5 plugins. Interesting and for the price. I am actually kind of disappointed.
    Also, I just found that UA has a page called 'UAD-2 DSP Chart' which mentions all the plugins and their average percentage usage.

    • @smithtrial9065
      @smithtrial9065 2 роки тому

      Do you mean like 4-5 plugins per audio track or 4-5 plugins total for the entire song file? 4-5 per audio track will work fine for me, but if thats all I can use for the entire project, no way lol

    • @annekedebruyn7797
      @annekedebruyn7797 2 роки тому +1

      @@smithtrial9065 Depending on the plugin, it's 4-5 plugins in total. But there are some more lightweight EQs and compressors which means that you can stack them up to 15 times.
      Antelope Audio has an interface with their own recreations and they can handle much more per project than UAD Solo can.
