    Ok...imma try to explain this as nicely as I can.
    Siri isn’t going to hit the same level as other personal assistants. For one main reason: User Privacy. Google and Android record your search queries in order to be proactive your next potential request. This data mining is labeled with your name and user ID and it is most definitely used to target ads and tweak algorithms.
    Siri on the other hand doesn’t do that. Every Siri request is given an anonymous random serial number, before the request is sent to a server and the answer returned. This is why you need internet to use it. There’s only a couple things that are really stored by Siri for each user. Voice recognition data in order to compensate for dialects and recognize things like “hey Siri” and whatever you tell Siri to refer to you as.

    • @AleksanderHoff
      @AleksanderHoff 6 років тому +10

      Saves storage? No.. its another app added by Apple, but that app takes storage as well. However, I do believe this to be a lot more accurate than the existing ones as it uses the next generation AR-kit, and not the one available now on iOS 11. Do love how Apple has managed to make AR be such a fantastic thing on the iPhones during the last year. Amazing how great it has been working.. and will be working when we now get MULTIPLAYER!

So if anything androids been copying apple since day one.

    • @SwishSwoosh

      you swipe ut and hold, which is the same as double clicking the home button onnothet devices and then you swipe up on the app and it dhits down

      @sirslickrock 6 років тому +1

      Kai Vogler No.. SwishSwoosh is right, I have a 6S (I will not get a phone without a headphone jack) and it has been double tap home button to tile open apps and then swipe up to shut them down for YEARS. The reason YOU can’t do this (before now) is because you don’t have a home button.

      Not saying they stole it but saying it is not a new concept. Not even worth headlining in a 2018 IOS update! I feel the Blackberries of 10 and 15 years ago were light years ahead of smart phone tech in the domain of email and message communication, handling and storage. What killed smart smartphones like Blackberries were the popularity of Selfies, Instagram, Facebook and other social apps where people just take and look at pictures of themselves nonstop.

    What do you mean by "interact with notifications while they're still in the tray?" You can slide left for a context menu around a notification or 3D touch it to interact. What more do you want? You don't have to slide right or tap a notification and open an app, especially not if you use Apple apps.

Where not only can you set limits for screen time, but also set those limits on specific days of the week. Because although it’s nice to be able to limit my screen time I would like to limit only on certain days. Just a thought, thanks

Works incredibly well and I reply to all messages without opening the app. For different apps it also gives you a preview of some content, like a picture and gives you shortcuts specific to the app. Super useful.

    Is it just me, or have phones hit a wall? I'm still on a Nexus 5 runnig stock Android 6.0.1 and, apart from some minor performance issues, it still works great. The only things I'm really missing on the hardware side are usb-c, an AMOLED display, and of course the overall performance increases that newer hardware allows. But on the software side, I don't really care all that much about the newer versions of Android. I used to, but lately I look at the new features of both Android and iOS, and I say, "meh". It seems like both companies have mostly finished building solid operating systems and are now focused almost exclusively on fluff. I guess it's somewhat helpful that Android can identify what song is playing from the lock screen, but it's not something my life has been missing. Animated emojis are a fine technical achievement, but I just don't care. I even think "windows" are pointless on a phone.
    On the hardware side of things, apart from what I mentioned earlier, it just doesn't matter to me if a screen goes all the way to the edge or not.
    Maybe it is just me, maybe I grew up a little without realizing it, but all I know is that a few years ago I couldn't wait to get the latest updates, but now it just seems like the technology has stagnated. Like the developers ran out of good ideas a long time ago, but are desperate to keep that initial "smartphone boom" energy going anyway, no matter what.
    Eventually, I'll have to get a new phone, but it'll probably be a generation or two old behind the curve because I just don't have enough reasons to justify paying nearly a thousand dollars for something that's only marginally "better" than my current five-year-old device.

    • @vdinh143
      @vdinh143 6 років тому +1

      F1NGER that's what it's been for a couple years. Something like KitKat was good enough for users to not care to look further. Batteries last all day, apps are smooth and useable.
      Not this year. Android P (and other Google services) are majorly benefiting from something I've long considered to be gimmicky: AI.
      To be able to entrust various aspects of my digital life to an automaton that can do a much better job than I can with years of effort is a major game changer. I can, in the future, do things I can't even imagine could be done today. I wouldn't just use my phone to do what I already do: watch UA-cam, read the web, listen to music, etc. But maybe I'll be able to use it for work in a meaningful way, no matter what job I have, without having to expend any efforts.
      I do agree that we've hit the wall for a while now: we can do what we wanted to do in a smartphone. But what we can do on a smartphone is starting to change, and with it, what we want.

    Except for the much-revised Notifications system (way overdue!) and the revised Animoji system for iMessage, most of the changes for iOS 12.0 compared to iOS 11.x versions are for better performance and bug fixes. Indeed, developers who have installed the first iOS 12.0 beta noticed substantial performance improvements with older iPhones with 64-bit SoC's that only have 1 GB of RAM, namely the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
