- Dive into Aiko Tanaka's Psychology. Find what leads her to all the wrong decisions in life. Trauma is a serious thing, and Aiko needs help.
Punpun's Psychology:
• Why Punpun sucks: Psyc...
The depressing reason as to why Aiko needs to pee so much:
• The detail EVERYONE mi...
The worst part about it is that her false love for Punpun was only there cause she wanted to use him as a means for escape. Punpun wanted the same escape and used her to get it. They never really loved each other like how a regular couple would. But one where they have no choice but to love each other. Thats why both of them wanted a way out but couldn't do it at risk of leaving the other. Aiko took the final step and gave Punpun the opportunity to live on with the promise of never forgetting about her. But of course, Punpun lied.
you said it perfectly
Lied abor forgetting about her? Pretty sure pun pun will never forget her as long as he lives
@@turokokokoko9714 In the end when he has that dream of her, I believe he mentions something about not being able to remember her completely. Implying that over time he's losing memory of her overall.
@@hewayughosts13 With the way that chapter was built up and translated I interpreted it as him finally acknowledging that he never truly knew her aside from his own idea of her. To the point that he even contemplates if that was really how she looked like. I mean aiko was living in his head rent free ever since they were kids, and is partially the reason for some of his trauma. She was a major part of him good or bad, I don't believe that it just took a year just for him to forget about her.
And i think aiko had that realization earlier than him through her dialogues in a couple of chapters leading to her eventual you know. Doubling down with the foreshadowing that she could just die if she achieved her dream with her last dialogue with punpun saying that it was her dream for them to fall in love and she was truly happy at that moment. I might be wrong tho
I had a relationship like that once. So addicitive, so terrible, yet somehow beautiful regardless. Even though I seem to have moved on in life, I still miss it from time to time
I understand how you feel
me too, around 5 years ago
I wish i could even have that
Had something similar but I ran away, "Aiko" did the adult thing and moved on. In a way I was saved. Only issue is that I'm not experiencing the forget phase. All is cool though - just got to live with it.
"was there ever a possibility for normality ?"
"Yes but not with punpun"
Couldn't have said it better
Poor aiko 😞😞😞
As a person with BPD, this video was really well done! I found myself and my darkest thoughts personified in Aiko as she struggled desperately to build a life worth living where someone could love her so wholly she felt that way herself. She definitely exhibits many of the classic symptoms of untreated BPD, and I can relate to her as someone diagnosed with it. Great video :)
Thank you so so much 💕
Same! I had read Oyasumi Punpun before being diagnosed with BPD. I was surprised to find that I weirdly relate to her in too many different ways. It wasn't until I got diagnosed that I discovered she also might have BPD, and it all makes sense now.
Poor Aiko, I feel her struggle. :(
Are you sure you don't actually have CPTSD and ended up with a sexist diagnosis?@@ProudMesopotamianGirl
@@creatingcozy8017 Sexist diagnosis?
@@ProudMesopotamianGirlwomen are more likely to be diagnosed with bpd than men however men and women are equally likely to have bpd
This manga is so great, the characters are not good people, and not bad people, they're just people. This manga teaches us about how destructive love can be, how tough and unfair life is, and how hardships that we go through make us who we are. People change, sometimes they break, sometimes they do horrible things and lose their will to live, but life always goes on. This manga is perfect, I wish I've read it sooner.
Normal people are not going around graping minors, starting cults, touching themselves in public, attempting murder on their children, trying to unalive themselves every moment they get for the slightest inconvenience ect these characters were so exhausting and unrealistic. The only likable one was Aiko. Punpun was definitely the most annoying one. Dude is canonically handsome and had girls interested in him, had friends who cared about him, and seemed booksmart. There are men out there who are under worst circumstances and are truly alone and they don’t become terrible like PunPun!
Aiko shouldve js stayed with the batminton player smh
The releationship between punpun and aiko became exactly what yuuichi hated and warned punpun about: a relation ship where two people lick eachothers wounds
I’m someone with BPD and man Aiko is really special to me. I read Punpun when I was a teenager and still in the environment where I was abused so I was at my worst behavior-wise. Untreated and all. And I acted a lot like her. When I moved away and got therapy it all started to calm down though and I’m now in remission, but I still look back at Aiko and it feels like I’m reading about my younger self. I just want to protect her.
this relationship really was so broken and twisted and it was present since the beginning great vid man keep going 😔🙏
Thanks for this video, I actually feel people loves aiko too much and hates a little too much punpun, when Actually both of them had a HELLA sad story on their sides but thanks to that they were actually pretty much toxic to eath other...
I would love to see aikos perspective over the 10 years that have passed
I had a former best-friend with BPD who attempted suicide over me leaving them. This video helped me a lot, made me feel seen, and made me feel a lot better. The guilt that's stuck with me feels so much lighter now, thank you.
Glad to help you feel less alone. ❤️
Jesus filled that empty feeling in my heart I had for a long time
Amen 🙏🏻 Christ has saved a lot of lonely young men and has given them purpose and value✝️ All PunPun had to do was seek Jesus instead of that weird god figure that was following him around.
This manga made me realize that’s what’s kinda wrong with the girl I’m messing with. Not going into tmi. She wants us to stop bc she scared of hurting me. It’s all bc I said I love her to early. But ik what I need to do if I can’t be her boyfriend her lover. Be her friend. Show her I’m not leaving. Show her that she’s enough. Show her that I’m there for her. It causes her to get into these deep holes. And I be damned if she ends up like aiko. I’m not leaving no matter how many times I get hurt. This isn’t for me. I don’t need to do any of this. This girl and her story captured my heart. I just want her to be as happy she can be and live. And not feel like she has to run into the arms of strangers for a night to cope. That I am here and always. Her scars don’t scare me. Her past doesn’t make me want to leave. The ridiculous things she says to push me away aren’t to hurt me. But she’s trying to save me. I can’t save her but I will be there. Thank you to this manga. Taught me what I need to do. Be selfless with love. That’s the only way it can work. Even if it’s just me giving it.
That's really kind man, good luck
Hope you and her are doing great 👍
That's what punpun should have done , he should've cared for her mental health , but that depressed , apathetic , selfish , sex driven a** hole is the reason her mental condition worsened and she did the unthinkable , i still couldn't accept that such a innocent girl died I'm bawling😭😭😭😭
Edit : her mental condition was already strangling on edge and punpun pushed it
@@scubasteve6175 qualified therapy along with someone who cares for her health or actually both imo
Also prioritising people whom u care is not bad sometimes , even it can be your brother , sister , wife etc...
Be selfless with love
Something we will never see in modern times
Thank you for this video! As someone diagnosed with BPD, I have always related to Aiko. It actually scared me how much I connected with her character when I first read it as a teenager. I have had relationships that I would consider to have been near identical to what Aiko and Punpun had. I'd definitely say that she fits the criteria for BPD!! Whether intended or not.
As a person with borderline personality disorder that Aiko and me relate and !! Nice video
Clad someone made video about Aiko because i really couldn't find any. this was also very well made and would love to see more of these types of videos
Thanks mate, will do
You should check mine out. It's where all of this info came from
When I read oyasumi punpun I related to her so much I think that now It gets more sense since I had suspicions of having bpd. I used to have a relationship like this and just recently I understood I was also toxic and not only the victim as I believed so hard damn...
Interesting revelation, but you should consult a professional before assuming anything.
Subscribed. Lately have been in a place in my life where impressive works of literature really appeal to me. Videos like yours are really good in showcasing how literature like manga as a medium can shed light on the human condition. Punpun's characters and their stories are for me cautionary tales of not taking one's mental health seriously and doing the work necessary to become aware of pitfalls and improving one's self and having the courage to change.
Looking forward to more content!
This reminds me of people and relationships I’ve been in. Makes me want to read the manga.
I've read it twice and never realized until i saw the wiki that Aiko lived with her step mother
Outside of her dream where she can barely remember her mothers face, were there any other clues to this?
Really good video. Bunch of good points I never thought of. Makes me think Asano really had everything planned out to the details
Totally agree
Thank you for this video! Was always wanting an analysis video of her
No thank youuu
I tot Punpun also was BPD becoz hes chaotic .and his mind think the worst possible scenario. Im a Male BPD and i passed all the 9 criteria. and i can relate to Punpun , he also embodies other person(split personality) like me. well its my opinion only..
The really serious thing that, this manga made me realize was how much I'm similar to Aiko
This is so interesting thank you for your videos I never realised all of this. This makes my experience of this manga so much more pertinent!!
Glad you enjoy it!
I find your channel with this video and I'm so glad of it !
Oyasumi punpun is one of my favorite manga. So much interesting characters and well written interactions between them.
Cause I am Bipolar too, I know how difficult it is to deal with it in the current life. But Aiko has decided to let go on her symptoms and choose facility over fight, that has led her to make wrong decisions. She wasn't willing to fight against it, she prefered to flight and ignored them ! What a nice exemple of denial. And this is the the reason why she has chosen punpun cause he was in big needs of attention, and willing to just ignore the difficultys of the world... But they couldn't do it by themselves so they have to do it together
They hasn't really use their resilience factors as much as they should have and so were kept on living this sh*tty and sad life. (That is so much easier) But because they had each other, to confort the other in their poor choices they kept on going. This wasn't love, this was just "utility"
Such a incredible story so well written !
Please keep on doing videos! Your analysis are well done and simple to understand :) your small format is well adapt to it !
Btw, If you had like punpun, you can read : adabana, love you so much that it hurts, gannibal, the killer inside, aisha, ...
I'll definetely check those out beacuse I never heard of them. Right now I'm reading Happiness, blood on the tracks, and the flowers of evil. Thank you so much for your kind words
Well in Aiko's case she cannot get facility with that b**** of a mother tbh, given how she suffered abuse from childhood , tragically she cannot differentiate between good and bad decisions tbh , she wanted to find happiness but with another broken man and that led to all the s*** tbh
Great video. That was very good analysis, and super interesting to watch.
Thanks man
a new channel i might get addicted to . let's gooo
stronger than crack
TW: R@PE
At 2:24 i think i saw on a website that it said there was implied rape from Aiko's step-mom? Pleade correct me if i'm wrong
That fade to black after the last panel was damn near a lil too tuf for me😮💨 its still too fresh
This pain never goes away. Comes yo my head at least once a week
Very good video in the insights.
Please I beg you remove the background and spend more time editing, an easy zoom in and more pictures would help a LOT
Well done with the video! While Aiko is a product of her upbringing and deserves full sympathy, abused people eventually recycles the abuse onto others. It's hard to balance yourself when you're walking on a rope that cuts between judgment and understanding. If any of you Punpuns out there who has an Aiko in your life, feel their pain and cry for them if you must, but do NOT let them ruin your life.
Well is it bad to care for someone who is broken if ur a normal man and cares for the people whom u love
Idk
What do you think about the possibility of Punpun also having BPD?
unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility
bro u kinda hopped through leaps and bounds to make this point: 1) you cant really use evidence from childhood to corroborate dx of a personality disorder.. they're typically diagnosed in late adolescence to early adulthood due to the process of brain development.. there are too many patterns in youth that mimic sx of bpd due to the naivete and absolutism of youthful thinking 2) By the time aiko would be appropriate for diagnosis, her behaviors can be attributed to patterns of abuse and trauma, her mother is constantly seen undermining her causing a dependency that switched from her mom to punpun 3) we know what happens at the beach... that's why she accused punpun of wanting to kill her in the woods, she was not being absurd 4) most of what you said can also be ascribed to punpun, who pathologically moreso met criteria for this dx: in his late adolescence to early adulthood he engaged frequent erratic relationships, constantly was hot and cold towards sachi after he confessed his love to her simply because she had been kind to him, he even went as far as to bludgeoning a stranger because he didnt like her manga, he went on to replicate the power imbalance aiko had with her mother so now she wont be able to leave him like how aiko couldn't leave her.. resulting in aiko's ultimate escape
since we saw more of punpun's adult life its clearer to say he met criteria for this or was at least exhibiting emotional dysregulation
I really like these videos!! Would you be willing to analyse characters from Blood on the tracks if you’ve read it? :0
I have and I am
So she tells Punpun tells him if he betrays , lies ( whatever one I forget what she says) that she’ll kill him but then says shit like , if you’re gone I’ll be alone. Soooo you gunna kill him or not? Wtf
Aikoooooo :''(
😭😭😭😭
the intro backsound suits the topic better than the entire video backsound..
so i have bpd? i said same things felt feel same things
Keep the good work
Video is perfect
Until this day i still dont understand why she chose to kill herself in the end.
She is fully aware that punpun is very fragile and the thought of punpun killed her mom already made him suffer and almost kill himself.
Why she didn't start over like punpun said, she just need to wait punpun out from prison. But no she chose to make punpun fell more deeper to suicide. Thanks to Sindo found him if not he would die bloodlost.
mental problems make irrational thinking sound rational, you don't see a way out. I guess she simply thought her life was fcked and end it all
@@xxfree-forevloverxx9325 if that's the case then why she afraid to die with punpun and said i don't wanna die in the the Beach. U know what im talking about right
@@xxfree-forevloverxx9325 she crying and said i don't wanna die
@@xxfree-forevloverxx9325 she also always in distrust in punpun she think punpun will kill her many times in the manga, she even buy a knife just in case to protect herself from punpun. That alone already prove that she wanna live so what im saying is the author fckd up in the end to make us sad. Thats inconsistent writing just for emotional impact
The fact that you are sitting there trying to rationalize why someone would commit suicide makes it obvious you never experienced suicidal tendencies before. You cannot try and rationalize something like suicide especially when serious mental illness is involved.
Can you analyse Obito from Naruto or Furuta from Tokyo Ghoul ;)
I gotchu. I’ll probably do Obito as I am severely disappointed with the tokyo ghoul ending
😭
