@@alexeira6759 I dont remember the breakdown but I paid msrp, tax, title and licensing and all that jumbo and then maybe a $2-300 processing fee. (Which you may be able to haggle out of but didn't even think of it because of excitement/3rd shift worker doing the buying when I should be sleeping. Out the door for me was $8600 in Illinois. Different states may cost more or less. 1 year warranty, did not pay the $800 for 3 years added on top of that but some consider it worth it. I figure I'll be on a new bike within 2 years and 1 year extra was $400 so meh. Idk about your market but used bikes seem to be about $1000 cheaper than msrp for decent miles but likely no 1 year warranty. If its your first bike, I'd buy brand new at a $1000 price difference. I did consider used 2011ish of different models that sit around $4k. Anything over 7.5k miles and you better make sure the maintenance was done.
Edit: $2k price difference, not $1k. But most bikes i looked in my area are already at 7.5k miles. So I felt $2k was worth spending to know the bike was taken care of. Especially sport/sportlike bikes. Cause I already have a project car. I did not want to end up with a project bike with a premium price.

I started with my Yamaha YBR 125, and hell, this is one of the most universal bikes I could buy. Does nice in the city and roads, it's very handy off road (only mud and loose sand is too much), the ergonomics are on point and the handling is very easy. Only downfall is the transmission which likes to not go smooth into low gears and even stop in-between them, which can cause a unintended rev-up or engine stop, but hell, I'm giving that bike solid 5-/6 as a starter bike.
The best is, I would like to ride a scrambler, yet they are ugly or (when nice) expensive, so I'm about to buy GSR 600 next year, just cuz I love how it looks xDD.

honestly, you should get a dual sport for your first bike. you can get one brand new for 5k and some change. Let's you see what kind of riding you want to do and manageable power for a noob.

Indian Scout is a good beginner bike. I am 172 cm and the seat height is just perfect. Well for 50 years old as a first bike it Is about enjoying the ride not speed. Ride safe😄

For $3,100 there’s no reason for the Yam not to do a ride-and-review on the new 2021 Lifan KPM200.
    200cc (I know, I know)
    75mph top speed
    Over 100mpg
    6-speed
Lifan has been making bikes for 20+ years and are insanely popular in countries like China, England and Russia.

In the UK, the cc is decided by your experience. (you'll have to check it out). Also, you actually have to have a licence (not an endorsement. An endorsement in the UK is a penalty on your licence). I believe you start on a 125cc or less. Again I believe you can only ride a 250cc for 2 years after you have passed your test. How ever! If you take a specialised test, you can ride larger bikes. I took my test 33 years ago. A lot has changed.

beginner bike: In Europe is an A2 licensed bike.. It has max power at 35kW or 48bhp.. With that power the bike needs to weight 175kg (kerbweight).. The fastest bike in this class is the Ninja 400.. 45hp to a weight of 168kg.. right on the mark for the 0.2kW/kg raito..

Hi, I've been riding a MT125 (I'm european :-) for the last 2 years and made about 4500 miles on it now, I also had the chance to ride a friends BMW F800 R for about 500 miles and it worked out fine for me. Now I'm struggeling if I should buy a XSR 700 or a XSR 900. The 700 without a doubt is the better beginner bike, but I wonder, if I am a beginner anymore or if a 700 would be boring after a few months? What do you think? Thx

I think my problem is that I know I want multiple bikes in the future so when shopping for my first bike I keep switching back and forth between several very different styles for a few weeks at a time lol right now my obsession is the RE 650, before that it was a cruiser, and before that a dual sport, and before that a ninja 400 or R3. But no matter what flavor of the month I'm looking at, I keep fondling the Z 400 with my eyes...maybe I should just get that?
