Blessings Mr. Pisano. Thank you for leaving a legacy in the history of jazz and in the history of a nation.🙏🏼 greetins Mr. Rich Severson and thank you 🙏🏼
Wonderful documentary tribute to John (great job, Wes - tip in the jar). I remember one of John’s “gag” comments to the effect that he didn’t want to leave the house to go play, because he might miss a call for a gig. Never met him, but sure appreciate him🙏RIP, John. Friends of John - please check in on his wife to make sure she’s good … tough time for her.
I was at Los Angeles Valley College in 1979 when John was teaching Commercial Guitar there. I think I enrolled in his class up till 1984. I grew up listening to him on my parents turntable with records by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and Sergio Mendez and The Brazil ‘66, Peggy Lee. Not realizing till later what he had done. I learned a lot from him that I incorporated in my playing and all the musical guests he had from Lee Ritenour, Ted Green, Lenny Breau, Jimmy Wyble, Tommy Tedesco, Phil Upchurch and several others. Last time I saw and talked to in person was at musicians party that was hosted by a Doctor where I was performing in a band. John will be missed.
Learned of him way back while subscribing to JustJazzGuitar. Always wanted to make the trip to experience one of his guitar nights, but it never happened. Condolences. Thanks for the tribute.
I can't remember which comedian it was who extended the saying to "Behind every great man is a great woman...rolling her eyes". I missed the news of John's passing. So nice to see you lot reminiscing together. The overwhelming impression you give is that he was a truly generous guy. There's too much competition today, and not enough cooperation. We even have competitive baking, and cooking. Why not just celebrate each other's talents like John did? A fitting tribute to John would be to commit to raising each other up, not knocking them down.
Enjoying the replay. Thanks so much for putting this together. I attended Guitar Night probably about a dozen times when it was at Spazio's and have good memories of it.
The whole show was so well done and it was great hearing the stories from each of you. Great work Rich and Wes did a marvelous job on his tribute video. I’ve heard John on a few on the records he played on, such a wonderful player and it was lovely to learn about the man and the way he embraced life.
I was sitting with Barry Zweig at one guitar night and Andreas Oberg was the guest. Barry said, I could play that fast…..if I wanted to. Then Barry introduced me to Jimmy Wyble who was sitting near us.
I just bought a John Pisano AR380 here picture in my channel emblem. Can't believe he passed...RIP Mr John Pisano. I know the Angels in Heaven Harp Playing just got a little interesting....your Jazz lives forever....
MAKIN IT on DECCA lp had the stupidest monkey cover art of any album ever seen, jazzwise. A real soddy job from Decca execs. Was it an inside joke ? MONKEY ON MY BACK FILM w Frankie Blue Eyezzz was just comin out or was it already ? Never got the point. Paid $50 4 a M- copy howevvuhh, already in mid 90s, the content fine,,of course.
A wonderful tribute to not only a talented musician but a warm and funny man.

Loved the first snippet of John playing "West Coast Blues", still my favorite piece from the first album I ever bought. A monumental loss to us all .

Thank you Bill! We appreciate that!
I remember that the first Jazz record I bought in the '60s was For Django. I still listen to it with great pleasure and interest.
John gave me my style when he played on call me , every song I sing I use his guitar rhythms
Thanks so much for this tribute. Thanks to Eastman for his signature guitar.
