    Hey man I absolutely love your videos and you really have inspired me to travel and to basically explore the world. My goal is to visit the Himalayas and to also visit mongolia, russia, and the central asian countries. Your videos are absolutely amazing, although I must admit I am nervous of traveling by myself. Also what are some cheap traveling advice as I really don't have enough money hahaha. But anyway greetings from Australia.

    Good thing you didn't order any of the curries at Marwadi- I was there and ordered paneer pasanda which normally has a very distinctive cashew gravy, one of my favorite dishes. When it came it was bland and more like second rate shahi paneer. When I complained the waiter actually said they use the same gravy for many different dishes. I love your videos, can't wait to go back to Nepal and I was just there 3 months ago.

    I'm vegan and was wondering how easy it is to get vegan food when travelling thanks

    • @Wanderer1
      @Wanderer1 8 років тому +2

      If you're travelling places like India and Nepal it's very easy because most of the population is vegetarian, the only animal products they have are dairy. Which can also easily be avoided.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  8 років тому +2

      +Gabriel Marengo Yeah, India and Nepal would be probably the easiest countries to travel in as a vegan. Elsewhere it would definitely be tougher. Not impossible, I've met plenty of vegan travelers, Louis Cole recently turned vegan and he's travel vlogging non-stop like me. Certain places have vegan restaurants like Chiang Mai, Thailand, Ubud in Bali, Indonesia and Cusco, Peru. But outside of tourist zones you will find some vegetarian dishes on menus in a lot of places, not necessarily vegan, but you might figure out how to communicate it to them (i.e. have someone write a message on a note in the local language). If nothing else then you can always go to local markets and buy fresh veggies and fruits. It would certainly present a challenge while traveling but one that could be figured out.

    • @Gabrielowns321
      @Gabrielowns321 8 років тому +2

      I guess it's kind of the end of high season, so it's not peak season but still travelers are around. But apparently because of the earthquake a year ago it's still affecting tourism in Nepal and so the high season wasn't as busy as it would have been otherwise.

      I'm really not sure about that and am curious to find out the situation. I've been told that there is wi-fi at places along the trekking route, but that it's slow and probably won't work for uploading videos. So there might be a break from the videos for a while. Maybe I can at least record a couple of short clips, in crappy quality so that the files are smaller and then at least post some updates along the way.

    i suspect you haven't considered this but you should: i find it quite sad and a bit disturbing that so many folks like yourself think it is prudent and ethical to travel to impoverished parts of the world and, instead of paying the incredibly cheap prices the locals ask, attempt to haggle and save a dollar or two on everything. Perhaps you should consider how fortunate you are to have been born into the affluent circumstances you were born into and pay what the ask you to pay. Saving a few dollars means so little to you but those few dollars means a lot to folks born into far more challenging circumstances...
    Of course you can do what you'd like and justify any behavior you'd like...we all have to decide who we want to be and how we want to treat others in this life.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  4 роки тому +1

      It depends on the situation and how much they're overcharging you. I don't mind paying the typical local rate or even a little more than that. But I'm not going to accept when they're trying to straight up rip you off. I don't remember what haggling I did in this video, but at the time three years ago I was on a super tight budget.

    These videos are a waste of time. His hotel room is way too expensive for 1000 rupee in Pokhara. Shows he didn't look around and probably settled for a hotel that gave him a discount for being highlighted in the video. He also took a jeep too far on the Annapurna Circuit missing some of the best sights, as well as many other rookie mistakes. Gabriel Traveler should spend more time traveling and not trying to sell gear on his Amazon e-store.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  5 років тому +2

      100 rupees is pretty typical for Pokhara. Of course you can find cheaper, but you get what you pay for. The hotel didn't compensate me for making the video. Taking the jeep ride wasn't a mistake, that was a choice in order to shorten our trekking time by a few days, due to our schedules. Next time I might start at the beginning however. Happy trekking.

    Your videos have kept me sane during this spell of isolation. I am 76 and have travelled to all the countries you have been to except the east European ones which I might do after the lockdown is over. Please dwell on the markets more if possible. I particularly love markets and indigenous people. Thanks

    Hey man. I’m in Pokhara now and you did such a great job capturing it even with equipment and editing from 7 years ago. On my way to Everest base camp next week and I owe this great experience to your videos for giving me the confidence to do this. 🤙🏼 you’re the best gabe.

    Thats not super cheap, for 24$ a day you could eat here in Romania stakes and meat all day. I tought Nepal is way much cheaper than the country i live.

    • @manukarki3190
      @manukarki3190 7 років тому +2

      Well tourist targeted places are really expensive compared to where normal Nepali people go. 24$ is like a fooding cost of a normal Nepali home for a couple of week.

      You would see only Kathmandu as full of crowds, rest of the cities are really peaceful and safe to visit. Do not compare with India, Nepal total population is lesser than Indian beggars, it's only 20.9 million where India has 25 million only beggars around whole country. 🙏

    No, cows are revered because Vishnu reincarnated as a human cow herder called Krishna. Cow is supposed to be his mount. I think that's the reason but I am not 100% sure. So female cows are sacred but male cows or bulls are not. Basically, you can kill the males but not the females. And you are not supposed to kill the female one because killing one is supposed to be equivalent of killing a "brahmin" human which is pretty bad for your karma. :)

    Do you ever get sick eating in these restaurants? I imagine they attract a lot of reaches? How do you fin a restaurant? just walking past? recommendations? do you ever check tripadvisor for reviews first?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  8 років тому +1

      I've managed to avoid getting sick fortunately. But it's always a risk when traveling, you just never know. I've talked with plenty of other travelers who have gotten food poisoning while traveling at one point or another. As for finding restaurants, yeah mostly just walking past and taking a look. Sometimes I have a guidebook and will go to a place based on reading about it. I don't tend to get reviews of restaurants online, I use that more for hotels. But also recommendations from other travelers who might mention a good place to eat.

    Nice one Gabe. would you please make an informative video like this while you are buying trekking gear.. Also why didn't you purchase the trekking gear from Thamel. is it cheaper in Phokhara?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  8 років тому

      I'm not sure whether it's cheaper in Kathmandu or Pokhara. I already bought most of my gear here in Pokhara, I didn't need to get a lot of stuff. But I'll make a video showing what gear I'm bringing and also other tips for trekking, hopefully before I take off, maybe tomorrow.
