Great info- I’ve been in business for 35 years- you hit all the high spots for sure. Keep up the good work, because hard work pays off! Blessings, Jeff.
My background is in forest products, although I've never ever been in the presence of a portable mill. But you are a quality human being, with a passion for wood. Those are the two main reasons I enjoy watching your channel.
In my Husbands Construction business, many have said they want a job. At best they should just not be working or stay home. Some have said they know allot & have experience, they should also get a job that requires their same expectation of what they consider hard work. My husband is waiting for his giant sawmill, however he is a woodworker contractor, so before the Mill is even here he has already canvassed for business contingent to the acquisition of the mill. He follows a different business model than most business planers. He is diligent and aggressive with his business plan, although not educated as the world considers, he does ok.
Great advice. I been doing portable jobs for 4 years. No job is the same and neither are the people. Job I'm on now I have 10 inches of blocking under far end of mill/ 40 super Diesel and my command control front is 2 foot off the ground. Killing my back. I been sawing roughly 60 hours and I'm about half way done.
Where are you located in Southern Indiana? I’m from Harrison County. And you are right. Most people who have never been to our part of the state do not appreciate the beauty of the rolling hills. Especially in the fall.
