Is Cardboard Better For Woodworking Design than... Wood?

- When designing something new, it's often a good idea to make a model, draft, or mockup before you spend the money and time to make the real deal. You want to make sure that the angles, functionality, size, and look are right. I've found that using cardboard is a cheap way to get a better idea of what to expect on a project. Especially a shop project.
For this video, I'll be making a sandpaper sorting box. Because I've never had one before, I don't know what I really want. So I've got a couple of ideas, and yes, I'm using card-BOARD to sharpen my woodworking design skills. - Навчання та стиль
This is a CAD Tutorial (Cardboard aided design)
Maybe not woodworking, but it got you the design concept that you wanted
Using the cardboard mock-up was a great design aid.
Agree with earlier comment that Hot Glue would have made this sturdier
Great process for sketching out ideas. Remember to account for material thickness when transferring to wood.... I wasted a lot of 1/2" plywood making a similar box and everything was short and the discs wouldn't fit flat.
Yeah that’s always a crucial detail. I’ve made that mistake on many other projects.
Modeling in cardboard is a good way to work out designs that you may then want to build with wood.
Inexpensive, quick, and (for me anyway) fun.
It’s also pretty easy to manipulate
Hot glue
Such a simple solution! Why didn’t I think of that?
