  • Masimo CEO Joe Kiani says Apple should apologize for copying his company's patented technology for measuring blood-oxygen levels in Apple's smartwatches. A US import ban on certain Apple Watches is set to start December 25. Apple is working on a software fix, but Kiani says that won't solve the underlying patent infringement. He speaks with Caroline Hyde on "Bloomberg Technology."

Apple, because it is their implementation of the technology in the Apple Watch. As the CEO said, their devices are much more accurate than Apple - Apple has implemented a (presumably cheaper) and inferior version of their tech. If you get an incorrect reading from one of Masimo's devices, then it is Masimo's responsibility.

Look up: Sherlocking, it will show some cases where they made improvements but others where they just took ideas and killed companies.

The Apple watch is a great product. There are many products out there that are similar or do the same thing but I think they need to make sure people aren't exploiting their products. I've bought apple products from small stores, mobile providers and individuals and in all cases I have had issues with password leaks. The watch was SE both I've seen people get on with the Ultra just fine. Watches generally need to function right and also help combat serial stalking. Haylou also was a product I tested and was satisfied with. Phones or watches new or used don't need much apps just the basics to communicate.

Unpopular Opinion: Tim Cook Should Be Fired Over The Masimo Debacle.
    Let's look at the facts:
    (1) In 2013, Apple met with Masimo about using their technology.
    (2) Instead of purchasing the company or licensing the technology, they hired away their top engineers.
    (3) Now that Apple has been caught with their hand in the cookie jar, they'd rather remove features from the Apple Watch, hurting customers, instead of buying the company or licensing its tech.
This has all the markings of a petulant child, not a seasoned CEO. This is early 80's Steve Jobs kind of behavior. And that behavior got him kicked out of his own company.

A lot depends on how integrated you are into the eco system. Apple products in general don't make the most sense on their own, it's only when you combine at least 3 or 4 or them together that the ecosystem shines and you get the true benefits. The seamless combination of devices through things like copy on one device and paste on another, airpods switching to whatever device you using automatically in milliseconds, controlling your apple home accesorries and so much more, it really becomes convenient. But it's hard to justify by itself.

    Masimo market cap $6bn
    Apple watch revenue $30bn
Apple can easily buy him out for 2x or $12bn
If this CEO is good, he can sell out at $12bn while still retaining royalties on the tech, in an Irish company, and get 100% gain now and perpetual dividend for the shareholders
