- T. Andre Feagin conducts the Santa Clara Vanguard hornline in the warmup before the Walnut, CA show on June 20, 2009.
Recorded hand-held using a Canon 5D Mark II and onboard sound. MONO it's bad audio quality, sorry.
DCI 2009 - Santa Clara Vanguard Brass in the lot @ Walnut, CA - 6/20/2009
11 years later, and I still come back to this. :D
10 years later and I'm still blowing out my earphones to this!
I still come back to do to be reminded of what an amazing hornline sounds like. I hate that Feagan retired from DCI... :(
Tyrone Adams he's back now with Boston!
Same here
I'm so lucky to say that this man stepped into our lot and worked with us. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
Andre was director at my old high school Overton in Memphis, TN after I graduated. Phenomenal musical mind
I had headphones on while I listened to this... And I bursted into tears at the end of it! That's just how beautiful it was!
Okay, I think that Santa Clara Vanguards have the most, beautiful, symphonic?, orchestral?, sound out of all the corps. I just can't describe it! Their sound always makes me tear up. :)
No I did not get my fix and I want more dammit!
i got to watch them rehearse for like a whole day and i saw their show for this year it was so good!
this almost makes me cry every time... tears of joy that is... =) Music is what moves the soul and mends broken hearts. I am so glad we all get the share the experience.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you.... !!!! I so miss the parking lots before shows where I gained so many memories... SCV 92-93,95-96... Thanks, again.
It's amazing the myriad of different emotions that can sweep over you in 1 single chord held out for 30 seconds.
I love SCV... I miss their horn lines like this. Sensitive, powerful when needed, tone...
its coming back;)
Is it natural to feel chills every time you hear this?
Cause I do! I love SCV so much!!!
This guy was my high school band director man. Two national wind symphony championships for an inner city school in Memphis...There could not have been a better thing happen to that school
I always love the SCV. I seen them in Denver, and will see them again in Indy. At the Denver show, myself and several fans were singing the lyrics to Appalachian Springs (the gifts).
Goosebumps! I don't know anything about cameras but everything is crystal clear! Awesome!
i watch this every few weeks just to feel the awesomeness.
BTW... What an AWESOME conductor. I just read Andre Feagan's bio at SCV's website and I tell you SCV is lucky to have a man of that caliber working with them... I could watch him conduct all day as he is just so expressive. The look of approval over to the sopranos, the build with the baris and the step forward telling the line to push through it. As a musician, we don't always NEED words. He feeds of them and they feed off him. Awesome!
Sent chills down my spine. what an awesome group of musicians.
10 ppl suffered a 90% hearing loss from this
This is the most amazing thing i've ever seen.
it's still magical
It is amazing how Vanguard can play a chord progression and make it sound so good and bring chills and have my jaw on the ground at the same time.
SCV brass is really bringing it this year. And the show is awesome!
i saw them two days ago at Rio Rancho, NM
right before they played their final
warm up he said to them
"remember always play from the soul..
always.. from the soul."
once that sound came out,
it was breath taking.
being in front of that wall sound
is indescribable.
Dear lead sop,
i love you and thank you for that amazing experience. that is all
1:04 gets the hair on my arms to stand up! One of those breathtaking moments when words can't even describe how truly amazing it sounds!!! Very powerful.
This brass instructor WAS a drum major, himself. Several years back, he was Phantom's DM. He also was my drum major, for one year in college. The year he came to UAB, we were phenomenal. I was on the drumline, the time he spent with us, turned our program around.
almost brings tears to my eyes. so great.
I am in love with this brassline this year. wow!!
Great camera work! The focus you a great effect! Go SCV!
As they gradually got louder, I kept telling myself that this has to be the loudest....ok this has to be the loudest then...I was blown away at 1:04
How can anyone dislike this? I just don't understand this world anymore..
I watch this, and I seriously almost cry.

for an olde snare, that ability, for brass-lines to sustain lengthy chords, by having, staggered intonations, and always; on-pitch- is just " the wonder of modern drum corps ", thank you for posting this insight; watching a brass-teacher in-action.... bedford joe
fantastic quality, I hope to see more drum corps videos look like this

SVC had one of the more musical Hornlines this year (and that I've ever heard from them!!). This coming from a Phantom Phan. Great job Santa Clara!!
It's arranged from Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland.
In an amazing turn of events, people other than Bach wrote great music.
yep that’s it
Andre Feagin is the music professor at our university!!!!!! UTEP!
