Kudos to Darlene Pekul and her hard work on drawing the map. She was honestly one of the best artists in the early D&D and AD&D games. A lot of her work was in small snippets in even other TSR products. She did a fantastic drawing looking much like Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) in the Top Secret original manual. Thanks Darlene.
She is pretty Iconic and the map is pretty trend setting, I think. I love her pictures in the AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide. Old school black and white was so very early D&D.
GreyHawk was my 1st exposure to "Kingdoms, Barbarian's, Bandits, on a mass scale. The world map was a piece of art I could stare at for hours. Greyhawk needed more Paperback novel support. Thats all that was missing.
An interesting difference in the gold box version of this article is the beginning of the last paragraph. In the later-edited version, it begins, "The Prince's disappearance destroyed these plans, however, and brought about the current state of affairs in the Flanaess, which is confused indeed." Thanks for reading this out!
I love me some Greyhawk, I have plans to run an extremely old-school inspired 5e game sometime this year and plan on using Greyhawk as the backdrop. There's just something special about those old DnD settings and editions. Some sort of magic, I suppose. Unfortunately I feel modern DnD has lost a bit of that charm over the past few years.
Thanks Trippy, so glad that you're enjoying it! Yeah, Greyhawk is particularly special and pretty original when it first appeared. And often the originators are the best maybe because they make their own rules. I love Greyhawk and after playing Faerun and Golarion for a while I've really enjoyed going back to Greyhawk. I want to try running an old school AD&D game using only the old rules. No skills! No feats! No sharp edges for clerics!
So glad that you're enjoying the vids! I started the playlist to practice doing VO stuff and I've learned a ton. I've only ever done a handful a small projects before. Love narrating Gygax.
It would have been nice if you could have pointed to the different areas you're referring to. You used names that I can't find on the map. This feels like it is only for players who have been playing in this specific setting for quite a while and who already know what you are talking about, not for those just getting into the setting.
Thank you, yes, it is just a slice of the Flaeness and leaves out a majority of the map which could be confusing. It was the first GH video that I made. I have remixed the original video which I am about to release and it will have the full map of the Flaeness on it.

This is great to hear, not enough greyhawk lore content on youtube
Hey thanks for checking it out. I agree, there isn't enough old school Greyhawk out there.
Check out Greyhawk Grognard if you haven't already?

Well done! I hope you keep up this good work. With all the drama in D&D, this could help many find their way back to the roots of our beloved game!!

How am I just finding these? Love them. Great job Mark. Do you do voice over work too? For narration that is?

@@mcrpg1375 will you have arrows pointing out what and where you are talking about?
@@MsGorteck I hadn't put that in the video but that is an excellent idea.
