Yea idk why it feels like the recording software has a 1/4 chance of recording without audio for me lately. Sucks when it happens to a good clip but oh well. I didn't calculate anything today with summoning and hadn't decided how much gp I wanted to spend; so I was just doing the slow thing until I felt like I had enough shards and still had enough coins for a while.

So long as you don't do an auto attack you won't consume any. Just make sure you're only doing abilities to attack.
