As a Tank Nerd Who likes tanks I personally love this anime I know that the tank physics doesn't make sense in this show but i still love it for actually sharing the history and equipment of Tanks and also the failures of putting a petrol-electric drive on a Tiger Porsche Heavy tank
Well, The physics are supposed to make sense, It was meant more to be interesting think of it you see the Maus during Ooari's Match the Kuromuromine and Don't know what is was, so you try and find out, personally I think that was one of GuP's goals was to interest Weebs in tanks and history, and History Buffs in Anime (As it did for me, other than that "Other" one I watched a few years back with an old friend, ah, good times)
Girl Und Panzer is not realistic, but I love it, the sounds, how the tanks sway when braking, when someone else fires at the other tanks, I really like it
i actually think hybrid powerplants would be a good idea, for modern tanks at least. electric motors can be sneaky beaky, so if any of the tankers see any use for it surely it would be nice to have the option right?
@@is-2412 generally speaking electric motors have better torque (that is instant peak torque from 0 rpm) so i dont think the electric motor's capability to move a tank is a problem, rather more on the power generators and how efficient it is. and is it going to be able to store power in a battery? if so how big of a space would the battery take to power the tank for how long without the combustion engine? thats more where the problem lies i think.
Well, considering that turbo-electric drive exists for battleships weighing over 32,000 tonnes, with propellers that individually weigh twenty tons, I don't think electric drive would have any problem turning the dinky drive wheels of even a Maus. Plus most diesel trains are actually diesel-electric transmission with easily two to four times the horsepower of any tank. Finally, well, there's always the AbramsX with a hybrid drive....

Not a lot of anime positively change actual things in the world. This one did in many ways. Songs long forgotten are now played by bands all over the world. A small tank museum now has a proper facility. Millions of people started digging history. Oarai got a second wind after years of decline and Fukushima. It's not too much to say this anime also saved my life during COVID. This series is truly special.
Context: I have a friend who ultimately hates anime, ANY ANIME. And no I don't even watch that much personally. But onwards, we were having a sleepover at my place, so I asked him: "Should we watch a movie?" and he just answered, sure you can pick. I made him watch Girls Und Panzer Der Film and he loved it. The only anime he has ever seen and he loved it. :D
The Finnish "Polka of the Sack Lake" was actually used in the war! 😮 By filling the radio waves by continuous Säkkijärven Polkka, the Finns prevented the radio controlled mines from exploding, until they were disabled. Thus saving a major city. 😮😎👍

Girls und Panzer is an Anime you can re-watch any time! I hope we can get more GuP-like Anime (still waiting for the complete release of the 6 part movies though). Haifuri (warships) or Kotobuki Hikoutai (warplanes) Animes are not bad, but they're missing the finesse of GuP.

Favorite Tank. Mine is the well a tie between the T-34, Pz. lV, and M4A3. All very good at what they were meant for. WWll Japanese and Italian tanks were crap When compared to more modern tanks (with the exception being the Japanese Type 3 Chi Hi, 4 Chi Ru, and 5 Chi Ri referred commonly as "Sherman Hunters")

When i first heard about this anime it sounded lame. But when i watched it, this masterpiece became my most favorite and somehow i feel like it made me more patriotic even if there is no mention in it about my country (Hungary). It made me liking history a way much better than i did it already and the marches led me to learn more foreign launguages. Right now it's like, keeping my happiness at the best level. I even considering to buy old stuff from history.

Honestly, hot take I liked the English inclusion of Korobeiniki over Katyusha. I felt like it was so much more recognizable. Like hearing Funiculì, Funiculà on the Italian side. With Katyusha its just "oh i get it. Thats the name of their captain"
I really like the onion song being French, fortunately this version in Girls und Panzer is simplified, because in the original version of this song the French insult the Austrians with dogs. I know that the Foreign Legion still sings it.

I love this show so much despite it's flaws, really makes me wanna study history.

Favorite Tank. Mine is the well a tie between the T-34, Pz. lV, and M4A3. All very good at what they were meant for. WWll Japanese and Italian tanks were crap When compared to more modern tanks (with the exception being the Japanese Type 3 Chi Hi, 4 Chi Ru, and 5 Chi Ri referred commonly as "Sherman Hunters")

When i first heard about this anime it sounded lame. But when i watched it, this masterpiece became my most favorite and somehow i feel like it made me more patriotic even if there is no mention in it about my country (Hungary). It made me liking history a way much better than i did it already and the marches led me to learn more foreign launguages. Right now it's like, keeping my happiness at the best level. I even considering to buy old stuff from history.

Le Chant de L'Ognion is a song sung during times of war and revolution. the whole BC gimmick is Referring to Vichy France and the "real france" during ww2.
