I don't like how some people say this sounds just like SRV. Granted it's similar but if Stevie were to do a cover of this song in heaven it would sound a little different. I have seen him do this song live a couple of years ago and it sounded awesome and put the album version to shame (if that's possible). I mean you just "felt" it! Also I learned how to play this one and some others on this album a while back, haha!
Mato is my favorite living guitarist! I was sad to hear that Indigenous split but at least they are all still making music, especailly Mato. Saw Indigenous live about 7 years ago, one of the best performances I have ever seen! Live long and Play Strong Mato Nanji
I seen Mato last night with the Jimi Hendrix Experience tour and he is absolutely incredible. I never knew who he was untill last night. Now I'll never forget. He will go down as one of the best blues guitarists in history, with Eric Johnson and Kenny Wayne Shepard.
I heard the last 30 seconds of this song on Sirius Blues CH 74 and had to find out who these guys were. I am in shock and awe that they have been around for over ten years and are not that well known. Now I'm mad at Sirius for not playing more of their songs.
siyo tsunalii Mato ale Indigenous, you hav so incredibly revived and re-incarnated the sounds, vibes, rifs and heart of SRV and Hendrix, but you have gone 5 steps further, bringing it back to the people once more. wado anadanvtli (thanks brothers).
I saw him on the Experience Hendrix tour as well, and also had never heard of him until that night. He was amazing -- one of my favorites from the show. I got to talk to him briefly afterwards; he was very nice. He has a new fan!
If you looked into them a little you would see they are much more than a Stevie copy. GREAT band, very unique sound on a lot og tunes. I have seen them live twice and was very blown away. And I do not get impressed that easily.
I'm glad he kept this band going, even in the current form. Good Native bands seem few and far between, especially excellent blues players such as Mato.
I have a video of Indigenous. I'm not sure if this VHS is now available at all on dvd :) I mostly watch any videos on youtube until I have a chance to see indigenous live.

for me, its not like SRV - i mean i know u might think it sounds like scuttle buttin' - but this is Mato playing :) and he's got that tone that i love. so happy SRV has inspired him. I love this instrumental :)
Blues is known so much for artists covering each other's songs and including references to their influences. This song is like one giant homage to SRV. Ripoff? No. An amazing tribute that upholds the traditions of the genre? Funk yeah.
Mato is heavily influenced by Hendrix, SRV, and Santana. Most definitely has his own style though. He's friggin' awesome! I know he makes them all quite proud :-)
hmmm....you should listen to Mato before judging that way. The guy below is right, more hendrx than anything, but really has a great style all his own. Check out some older indigenous songs
@cmondefeatme I have a feeling that Stevie Ray would be pleased that Mato has some of the same vibe that Stevie did...and I do not think SRV would look at it as being "a total rip off". Stevie enjoyed the HELL out of listening, watching and learning from other guitarists and musicians. He would have totally embraced this young guitar slinger and sung his praises for his talent and soul.
More Hendrix influence than SRV...just listen to his cover of Red House....I have never heard them do an SRV song but I think it would be great to hear that
yes it sounds like stevie, as does most of their stuff, just like Kenny wayne.. doesnt mean they arent badass in their own right....Chris duarte puts a better twist on the SRV sound if you ask me.
it does sound similar but SRV would most likely like this song and this band a lot. Besides, Buddy Guy wrote the song Mary Had a Little Lamb. Stevie just covered it. Does that make him a total rip off too?
Mary Had a Little Lamb!....so many people out there trying to be the next SRV,...that has always been my big gripe about bluesrock people. Mato falls in the same category as Kenny Wayne.
Hey Lenny i like ur style and indigenous plays the blues we can all step into long live the indigenous and let us be heard to keep our freedom
Yea this guy soars on that guitar. Catches nothing but sky! Saw him and buddy guy in Dallas. N yea , on another level
lovely blues .......

LOVE THIS BAND .... BLUES,ROCK,RIFF,WHAT ELSE DO YO WHANT,//...

thank you bluesfanlenny! I am happy right now!
It'd be great to see more of our younger generations of Indigenous ppl like this, there are many who're great musicians. Love your music, God bless*
Have followed this group from their first cd and LOVE THEM THEY ARE AWESOME
Mato's awesome.
hey thats my shot on the image of this video...way coool
If you looked into them a little you would see they are much more than a Stevie copy. GREAT band, very unique sound on a lot og tunes. I have seen them live twice and was very blown away. And I do not get impressed that easily.
This sounds so much like stevie! It's unreal..haha! Great job!
I'm glad he kept this band going, even in the current form. Good Native bands seem few and far between, especially excellent blues players such as Mato.
Got some feel of SRV going on! This guy is past awesome.
That's some cool tremolo he's got. He's pretty much a SRV spinoff, but Mato still kicks major ass.
I have a video of Indigenous. I'm not sure if this VHS is now available at all on dvd :) I mostly watch any videos on youtube until I have a chance to see indigenous live.
Ha! Yes. Yes, they do.
I've always wanted to see them live. I wish that they would go on tour with Joe Bonamassa or someone of this calibur.
my fav. band all time
Their original producer was Doyle Bramhall who played with and wrote many of Stevie Ray Vaughan's songs. RIP Doyle Bramhall.

I agree, I have heard Red House, I hope to see and hear Mato Live. Have you seen him live?
this dude rocks..sound like stevie ray vaughn
for me, its not like SRV - i mean i know u might think it sounds like scuttle buttin' - but this is Mato playing :) and he's got that tone that i love. so happy SRV has inspired him. I love this instrumental :)
One word:
Underrated.
Talented and good lookin' = yah that s my type of guy!!! Ayoye!
Where you from?
Blues is known so much for artists covering each other's songs and including references to their influences. This song is like one giant homage to SRV. Ripoff? No. An amazing tribute that upholds the traditions of the genre? Funk yeah.
Love it!
hey any one knows where can get music from this excellent player sounds like SRV but fresh¡
Mato is heavily influenced by Hendrix, SRV, and Santana. Most definitely has his own style though. He's friggin' awesome! I know he makes them all quite proud :-)
Do i hear MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB?(STEVIE VERSION) oh well this guy can still play the fuck out of the guitar.
Couldn't agree with you more, its Mato Nanji's guitar playing!!!
Give Mato some love, SRV took after Albert King. Everyone looks up to someone!
Go Mato!
Ok I changed the title, it didn't change any related videos lol. :(
got that srv, buddy guy feel.
LOL I just noticed that now. I'll change the heading to be Indigenous first possibly. :)
hmmm....you should listen to Mato before judging that way. The guy below is right, more hendrx than anything, but really has a great style all his own. Check out some older indigenous songs
@ghurricane87 Dude, this REALLY sounds like SRV. It's like a mix of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Scuttle' Buttin". IT'S TOO OBVIOUSSSSSS!!!!
@cmondefeatme
I have a feeling that Stevie Ray would be pleased that Mato has some of the same vibe that Stevie did...and I do not think SRV would look at it as being "a total rip off". Buy their live CD
More Hendrix influence than SRV...just listen to his cover of Red House....I have never heard them do an SRV song but I think it would be great to hear that
YUMMY!
Which SRV song would that be?
Blueshammer!
sounds so much like mary had a little lamb
Does anyone know if the band is still playing or doing tours?
@BOGATA9 - You forgot to mention Jesse Ed Davis...
not the version that is already on here
Sounds good. A bit like Stevie Ray, but very good.
yes it sounds like stevie, as does most of their stuff, just like Kenny wayne.. doesnt mean they arent badass in their own right....Chris duarte puts a better twist on the SRV sound if you ask me.
It's all about the Texas sound..SRV didn't invent it..
Could easily be mistaken for Stevie Ray. I'm not entirely convinced it isn't
it does sound similar but SRV would most likely like this song and this band a lot. Besides, Buddy Guy wrote the song Mary Had a Little Lamb. Stevie just covered it. Does that make him a total rip off too?
xTHExWASPx someone should do a cover of little miss muffet told by Andrew dice clay but with some sweet Texas still blues..just saying
I know what u mean :)
HAHA! The "related videos" are no way related to this! (just noticed that)
@gmleroy007 Native American....not native american.....lol.
these guys are coconuts (brown on the outside white in the inside)
and ur a coconutbutt
lme
2 month old comment! Ask yourself that! What I said is the truth of the matter.
Mary Had a Little Lamb!....so many people out there trying to be the next SRV,...that has always been my big gripe about bluesrock people. Mato falls in the same category as Kenny Wayne.
@danieldj2004 yep... Just another SRV's copies!
Lol SRV Did Not Write Mary Had A Little Lamb........
SRV made a lot of "damage" to the blues guitar...
OH NOI - not another SRV clone - let the guy RIP please !
I can't help but feel this is a total rip off of Mary Had a Little Lamb by SRV. =\
they are their own, but a srv influence! AWSOME! !!
