I'm looking at the TSP cam packages now I have an 01 coupe. i'm picking up a set of 243 heads and figured i'd do a cam too while i'm at it. any feedback on how it is before/after? have you had it on a dyno? and any feedback on how this cam is with boosted applications?

Obsessive Hobbies this cam is not good for boost because of the valve overlap. You would want something with a wider lobe separation angle for that. As for the car, it was like a completely new car after the cam. It went from kinda quick the a pretty fast car lol. Drivability is great, but that’s all in the tune. That’s the biggest thing with these cars. You NEED a really good tuner.

Marcus martian8 they’re dual springs and titanium retainers and it’s a manual so I changed to a McLeod twin disk clutch

MRBLACK947 Marty Stromberger if Stomberger performance in Spokane tuned it and installed most of the parts on the car. It drove amazingly and had no issues whatsoever. He did it for an awesome price as well. Yeah I’m bummed about the car. I plan on getting another but it will most likely be a C5Z. Right now I’m building the Srt4 for the road course and I’ll be doing some videos on it as I get the parts together.

Did you add a stall converter on this setup? I’m looking at doing everything the same but some forums say they recommend getting a bigger stall converter? Just want to make sure the stock one will do fine!
Tyler Vowell I would definitely get a bigger stall or it’s going to be a pain in the ass to drive. My car is actually a manual trans car so no stall lol

They’re stock replicas that are widened and powdercoated
with a manual trans car they always trap high per ET. I bet on a good launch it goes 12.2 to 12.4 range. why baby the launch THAT much though? are those rear axles or gears weak like the stock 4 gen fbody's? nice car. and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
Thank you! the stock trans and diff with no brace can break with moderate wheel hop. That was the first launch I ever did on a prepped surface with the car so I was really careful with it lol. I definitely could have launched it a bit harder though.

Erik F SLP Loudmouth axleback, so yeah no mufflers or anything through the whole system. Completely straight piped.
Bad Ass C5, what year is it, and what did you use to black out your tail lights ?
The Jeep Posse thanks man. It’s a 2003 and I used nightshade to black them out. I wet sanded them smooth, used 3 coats of nighshade, and then did 3 coats of gloss clear coat over that.

I have a 98 auto trans C5. I was looking at like a btr stage 3 cam or this one sounds nice too. Which would you suggest that sounds mean, gives power and idc too much about mpg even though my daily for now is my C5. Any other mods I should do when getting the cam so other things don't break or what? Thanks man!
GreyC5 well since you have an auto you’re definitely gonna want a new converter with a higher stall. Also you need valve springs, retainers, pushrods, and some ls7 lifters since ours are prone to lose their retaining pins with higher lift cams. As for which cam, that’s really up to you. I’d go for something with really good mid range. Something with super high lift is just gonna push your power band up higher. Maybe btr stage 2?

But what's the difference between the stage 2 and 3 cam? And should I consider new gears, or a pulley to get faster acceleration?
Like yours sounds great! I wonder what mine would be with the magnaflow exhaust. I just have a blackwing cai and magnaflow performance exhaust no mufflers or resonators. Need a little more noise from my boy. I want it to raise hell and be angry just sitting there. The stage 2 what I heard from a video on a ls1 C5 sounded ok, maybe they had mufflers or something lol
GreyC5 you need longtubes lol. Do all the basic bolt ons first, then the cam. That thing is gonna be sucking some air with a nice big cam so you want it to be able to breathe as efficiently as possible. I love the cam I have but it’s actually very mild for our cars. I’d suggest a tsunami, a bald eagle cam, or any other Texas speed cams. They make great power! Just be sure to do all of the valve train upgrades needed for the cam. The high lift cams are rough on the valvetrain

so did you end up having to flycut or no also did you ending up doing a timing set?
I did a timing set and oil pump gears, but did not have to fly cut since the lift on the cam was only around .600” I think.

@@bart132486 I did it since we were already there. When I bought the clutch it was just called the McLeod RST twin disc clutch. It’s rated for like 900hp or something. Also, make sure you get a remote clutch bleeder for the car.

J Cloud none actually! It really felt like a slightly stiffer stock clutch and made zero noise. Highly recommend.

I actually new a guy who I lined a race shop and got a crazy deal. He installed everything and tuned the car for 1000$
What RPM are you idling at?
It’s around 900 I believe. Initially it was set too low at like 700 and would sometimes shut off when pushing the clutch in after a pull or stopping.

Matthew Um14 I never got a good run in it before I sold it because I was scared to break the red end. I slow rolled it off the line being very careful and still trapped around 115 or so. If I had launched it, it probably would have trapped around 120 which would be a low 12 or high 11

OMWTFYB yeah definitely. This cam has a good amount of valve overlap because of the close LSA. That makes it not want to idle well because it’s not pulling as much vacuum. Once it was tuned it ran like a raped ape. It makes great mid range power
