I love modern cars, this is a very safe feature and would be very helpful in the event of an accident where you need to exit the vehicle ASAP. Not dangerous at all.
i think the unlock option costs extra but yes it certainly is a great feature as the car knows that the human would be better off dead than to be injured and deal with the health care system.
I remember 20 years ago cars had enough of that needle that pokes out that you could unlock it manually with your fingers if you wanted to. I guess they forgot why they did that.
Yeah, the Detroit mode where you can't get out with it running 🤣 in all seriousness that would pose a serious safety risk. Imagine someone getting in a wreck and the vehicle ignites and they have to get out. I'm sure you know as well as any of us do, in a situation like that you go into fight or flight and aren't exactly going to be thinking clearly, you just want out of that car as soon as possible. Even if you were thinking clearly then shutting it off probably isn't going to be the first thing to come to mind, if you get hit hard enough to start a fire I don't think the odds of the motor running anymore would be very high.
I remember hearing a story of a guy who was in an older Jeep Cherokee going down the road, all was normal until it caught on fire in the engine bay. He obviously pulled over at the first sign and tried to get out, but the car wouldn't unlock any of the doors. Why he didn't try pulling on the plunger to manually unlock it or break a window I don't know, but he ended up burning to death in that vehicle.
@@coolmex810 My Kia is 10 years and NEVER had that problem! Even now, door lock-unlock without a fuss in any weather...And it is a cheap rio! GM should be ashamed...
@@theadvocate4698 yeah my dodge journey is a cheap suv like the trax. and i've never had an issue with the locks, just only with the key fob is where it had issues. and its a dodge too, you'd think it would have issues.
So pull up on the little doohickey? people still buy chevys after all the people they have killed? "that's unsafe" yeah like the ignition switch from hell. ya know ya be driving down the road hit a pothole and your keys jump out, then your steering wheel locks up and you hit the brick wall next to the highway and your airbags don't go off since the car is off.
It's acting like it's unlocking then locking , Similar to what some cars do when you program a keyfob, Example being what my 2010 Malibu i used to have would do
I'd keep a window breaker tool handy just in case. Sometimes I miss the old days when vehicles had less electronic parts and relied on more mechanical systems that were much more dependable and easier to fix. I keep a window breaker tool in my truck just in case.
Why anyone would buy a Chevy after the carelessness and dangerous problems they never fixed on the Cobalt is beyond me. GM will happily kill its customers if the car rolled off the lot.

It's not letting you out there, because there is snow on the ground and you are wearing a short-sleeved shirt! What a considerate car...
🤔 Calling the dealership now tell them never mind on fixing it. You're absolutely right it was looking out for my health.
Could be due to the cold weather. I've had multiple vehicles where the power locks stop working below freezing.
If there was just a little knob on the back of the door, AKA left side of the screen, you could pull up on......
Is it possible to grab ahold of it in that car?
@@zzoinks Not with chubby, french fry grease covered fingers.
Sounds like the door is frozen inside. Try the handle, and push the door with your shoulder. If not roll downthe window and get out.
Are you still stuck in there?
haHA 🤣
yes 2 weeks later still inside. I don't know what to do.
@coolmex810 hang in there
Lmao gotta love modern cars, i love my mechanical linkage
Maybe because it's turned on, possibly some kind of safety feature.

Frozen solid. Did unlocking with your key fob not work either?
Nope that did not work either. 15 minute drive fixed the issue. So as long as I drive enough for it to warm up. I should be good.

Yep, the ignition trouble was terrible and most people know nothing about it...
