TV was pretty much still all black and white at this time in 1967. It's kray to be able to remember clearly the advent of color television Star Trek and Voyage to The Bottom of the Sea.
Jack Casady had not yet transitioned from his Fender Jazz Bass to the Alembic modified Guild Starfire Bass which had a stronger top end. It great to hear these songs that would make on to later albums.
reading his book...blew my mind...Jorma grew up in Ellington,CT. The next town over from Vernon. I did not know about this song...my favorite band...to Hot Tuna...

Et ce n'est que maintenant que tu t'en aperçois, Chuck ? C'est un peu tard, tu ne trouves pas ? This was great, love the slide show, amazing freakin' pictures of the band. Surprising to hear some of the later songs in fall of '67. What a band and time.
in the book can't find my way home after the summer of love mostly fell apart there was a sign in a storefront window....Nebraska needs you more...I was 9 in '67 ...but had my picture taken at Haight-Ashbury July 1969...I guess you could say I was behind/Ahead of my Time...Jorma Rocks
Always taken by Jorma's lead guitar developments. Ordered but at the edge of it. An incredibly fast return riff, with holes. It's cool, as always hearing these live gigs and performances by bands like JA, to hear the interplay like the bottom end that Jack Cassady and Spencer Dryden are running here. Kantner, Signe, later replaced by Grace Slick, Balin, Kaukonen, Cassady, Dryden. They had a dynamic going in a time that was Happening! Maybe like right now, as the Concept comes through with the practice, or praxis. Like with these guys. It was interesting musically to grow up at that time. At the time, they were 'underground', which as we all know, becomes 'above ground', like a plant should, and then Return to wherever it was we came from. Anyway, thanks for the musical reflections. I think the 12-string rhythm guitar was Paul Kantner. Cool Bass and drum interplay there at 23:00 and as extended. Bodily Cerebral. It's the road that rock goes down, comes back, and goes around. "Would You Like To Know a Secret?" "Crown of Creation" at the time made me become conscious of The Anthropic Principle. That was part of the purpose, i guess. Just like the rest. I appreciate the way artworks help us uncover the source to answering the question, "Why is there Something Rather than Nothing?" A question happily interrupted by Paul Kantner announcing from the Captain's seat, "Fly Trans-Love Airways; Get you there on time. Fly Jefferson Airplane; Get you there on time." And i must agree. We're All, "Volunteers of America!" "You say you won't know and you won't." Well, Okay Then.
This is interesting. After Bathing at Baxter's is released the next month and it has Crown of Creation songs on it as well as Good Shepard ? Nice collage of images and interesting visual effects.Thank You Mike
Only the first half of this clip is from the 10/14/67 Winterland show. The rest, from "Crown Of Creation" onward, is from a Family Dog show on 6/13/69.

I turned ten years old that day

That is if you could afford $600 for a color tv. Lots of money in '66/'67. (about 6 months rent !).
The TV networks made the big switch to all-color in the 1965-66 season.

Casady is in outer space here! One of the most interesting live recordings of Airplane!
classic music will never go out of style !
Another kickass version of "Other side of this life" Can't have too many of them. Thx!!!
Awesome sound! For being almost 60 years old....People will know the name Jorma.

Where's the song line up? Set lists etc.?
I hear a 12 string it seems in some of these early recordings. I think that was abandoned not long after.
Paul played 12 strings most of his career

Paul
