Following on from his piano performance, Elio de Angelis and Michele Alboreto are interviewed on live German Television for the programme Sportstudio alongside Michele Alboreto, Clay Regazzoni, Keke Rosberg and Nelson Piquet.

I loved Elio, he was a gentle controlled person on and off the track, consummate racer and a real gentleman. (Not to mention a beautiful smile) Sadly he was lost to us as so many were before, I go back to the Sterling Moss era and it seemed then that every time a driver was getting where he needed to be he died. Broke my heart when we lost Jim Clark, then Francois Cevert, But with Elio........ there are no words.

He was not even badly injured in the crash which killed him, just a broken collar bone and light burns on his back. He was unable to get out of the car unassisted and because of the lack of marshals at the test day he inhaled smoke from the burning car. He died from the smoke inhalation 29 hours later.

Elio was so lovely,natural,humble,elegant..a real gentleman,very talented pilot and sensible piano player.His smile was so sweet..like a little boy! :)He was very handsome and tall too..What a Man! /Ute Kittelberger is very lucky lady!/
