THE QUARTET- Miriam Allan: Soprano, Tom Lilburn: Alto, Nicholas Madden: Tenor, Simon Whiteley: Bass
Psalm 104 - at the request of The Duke of Edinburgh, was to be set to music by William Lovelady (b. 1945), abridged and arranged for choir and organ by James Vivian (b. 1974) with the composer’s permission. Words from Psalm 104, adapted by Sam Dyer (b. 1945).

@@williamlovelady7217 It's already in the description but I can definitely add it to the subtitles.
By the way, if you're the real William Lovelady, great job to you and the others involved, this is a masterpiece!
I am him, sorry it happens a lot . Many hours of composing . The original was for 80 singers 16 strings a soprano and flute and was first performed at his 75 th birthday .
@@williamlovelady7217 No need to apologise, you absolutely deserve to be credited, alongside some of the others involved.
It is an honour to speak with you, thank you and the team for creating such a wonderful, touching and unforgettable piece! And thank you for the specific information on how many people performed the piece privately at the late Duke's 75th birthday, I haven't seen it elsewhere.
Thank you very much!
The funeral was all the more powerful because of its simplicity and so was this quartet of powerful singers
This was beyond exquisite. It was composed for Prince Philip’s 75th birthday and he requested it for his funeral. It was all the more moving for being sung by just these four utterly superb voices because of Covid. It was a beautiful ceremony. RIP Prince Philip.
This was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard!!! Spectacular!!!!
me too!
Totally agree
I agree - truly wonderful ♥️
I’m obsessed! I keep returning to this piece.. I don’t know much about music composition but the balance of these singers is wonderful, it makes me sit up every time I listen to it. Thank you St Georges choir et Al.
Thank you from Germany and my deepest respect for the performance of the 'only' four singers

This Psalm bought a tear to my eye.
What a beautiful piece of music. I'm so touched. My deepest condolences to The Royal Family and to the whole England because of loss of HRH Prince Philip. Hugs from Poland.
Thank you for your comment, it's good to see that people around the world adore and care about the royal family
Is this part of the choir at St George’s Chapel? Who wrote this ? It’s utterly amazing!!!!
@@Ingrid0410 Yes, it is part of the choir in Saint George's Chapel. Check the description of the video for information :)
@@Ingrid0410 It was written by William Lovelady for Prince Philip’s 75th birthday. Prince Philip requested it for his funeral. He chose the music and readings. Because of Covid he could not have the guests he requested, mainly representatives of charities and organisations he worked with.
@@tommoncrieff1154 That makes me so sad to hear but even in death he wanted to give back to people. I don't think I realised what an amazing man Prince Philip really was.
Voices sent from heaven. Absolutely wonderful. I am in tears.
@william lovelady What a beautiful piece of music. I have watched this over and over again. So moving.. i just love when you 'discover' a piece of music and it just blows you away. Just beautiful...
An outstanding interpretation of this fantastic composition which left me speechless and moved me to tears. A truly majestic, beautiful and unforgettable piece of music for His Royal Highness the Prince Consort and Duke of Edinburgh, may he rest in peace!

Psalm 104
1 Praise the Lord, my soul.
Lord my God, you are very great;
you are clothed with splendour and majesty.
...
31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works-
32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles,
who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 I will sing to the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
34 May my meditation be pleasing to him,
as I rejoice in the Lord.
35 But may sinners vanish from the earth
and the wicked be no more.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
Praise the Lord.
the few seconds at the start where the alto joins the soprano, then all 4 start singing is truly beautiful and goosebump inducing. But the whole thing is really spectacular.
I was listening on my handheld Sony radio live. I was manic and just happened to catch this and I cried ✡️👽✡️👽🙏🐸☠️👻☠️🙏😎😎😎🎂🎂🎂😇🎂🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
I am not Christian but this goes beyond word, labels or boundaries..
Perfection. This quartet have been the soul of the funeral.
The lady in the quartet was my old singing teacher! 😅
@@noahnicholas9097 what a powerhouse! She's amazing.
that's beautiful. It's already existing 24 years, however haven't heard it yet. Wonderful, whatever a person had done or was born at .. if somebody composes such a piece just for him/her. That's eternity
Absolutely beautiful piece. I have been listening to it every day since the funeral. The singers were outstanding... thank you to Lovelady for writing such a compelling composition. What talent...
un vero capolavoro che unisce cantabilità,drammaticità e bellezza di scrittura che rendono il lavoro preghiera commovente
I didn’t think such perfection was possible-The Gods were smiling on all-simply wonderful.
Chills down the spine...beautiful ecumenical performance from the Choir. Thoughts from Denmark. Thank you AC/DC for posting 🙏

When I was hearing it I was like, wow this is wonderful and almost like heaven to the ears.... the late Prince really did choose well. It truly is saddening to see people pass away, let alone the royal family. Hoping he's resting in peace. Thank you for your comment, it was a moving moment for my family and I too - especially when we saw the royal's reaction (specifically Prince Charles).
Agree! As soon as I heard this, I wanted to hear it again! What a masterpiece!
God bless and keep the Duke of Edinburgh. My prayers go out to Her Majesty the the Queen and all her family at this time.
This is music to match an army to battle too. So elegant yet inspires courage and selflessness and service, words which perfectly described the late Duke.

Danke dafür.... so kann ich es nochmal hören... seeeehr berührend !
Bravo! Lovely high B Flat from the tenor 4.17 well done.
His face after he hit it! He and the conductor shared a look I think. Beautiful.

Magnifique, j'ai eu le coup de foudre pour cette pièce.!
An ingenious piece and very beautiful performance. Thanks a lot!
This is glorious - hair tingling. So pleased to have been introduced to it.
Absolutely beautiful piece. Beautifully sung, magnificent voices.
Harry lookalike has such good control, tempers his voice for a different mood - I'd never heard that before and blonde lady - who on earth can open their mouth and sing like an angel? Where does that come from? Completely astonished, the whole Psalm sung by them was achingly beautiful.
Absolutely, I was mind blown when I first heard this. If you are wondering what their names are, they're in the description, alongside more information on the piece (the woman, Miriam Allan, is the most well known out of the quartet).

Well done Miriam et al! What energy!

An amazing piece, sent shivers down my spine. I’ll be exploring your other compositions, but thank you for this one, and what a gift to all of us from Prince Philip to put it in his funeral.
Quite right William Lovelady - Your setting of this psalm is utterly beautiful and you should be properly credited for it.

Amazing.
This piece is just exquisite. I can imagine it being used in a musical (and Michael Ball would suit the vocal range perfectly), the Jubilente piece reminded me of the Wedding Celebration from Les Mis.
Rest in piece, sir. Not just the Queens, but the countries strength and stay.
