      Sir I have been watching all these control videos and I have never been clear with my concepts ...thank you and I wish u could do a control design for renewable system like solar mppt...not like any other videos in other channels jus giving a mere model with no explanation so that I would be glad ...😇😇I'm a electrical student this will mean a lot to me or else pls help in making a convertor based modern controller video

    AE511: This really ties in all the past couple of weeks of lectures into designing control systems. It's pretty crazy how all the manual work we have done making the bode plots and root locus is done with the control system designer tool in matlab. It's a great tool in a situation where you are given design requirements and need to develop the system on the fly with said requirements in mind!

    AE511: This really ties everything together on the SISO controller design. Before watching this video, I was just thinking about all the different tools that you would have to cross-reference to adequately design a SISO controller based on what we've learned to-date.

    AE511-Fantastic overview of the Control System Designer!now to use my 2 remaining wishes...1) It is worth noting that the creation of Simulink model functionality was first released in R2018a.2) (very minor, but just so I can use up my second wish) The example had settling time for within 2% of final value which didn't get inputted in the designer.

    AE511. What happens if you have conflicting requirements that over constrain the system? Does this cause an error with Control System Designer or are the requirements that are added to the plots just acting like guidelines?

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  5 років тому

      Great question. These regions are more like guideline. There is nothing stopping you from adding too many constraints and leaving you with no solutions. In that case, you'll need to relax or remove some constraints.

    First of all, thank you for your effort, your videos are just amazing! I have a question concerning the controlSystemDesigner. Everything worked fine while I used it for PTn-Plants. But it doesn´t seem to work properly with ITn-Plants. I tried a fairy simple IT1-Transfer Function for my linear actuator I want to control and while the step resonse in Matlab (using step()) looked as expected, the step response in the csd did not look any similar. It doesn´t look like the typical ITn-response at all.
    Do you have any experience with that?

    However, what is the theoretical way to find the value of C ? Suppose, for System = (s+3)/((s+1)*(s+4)*(s+5)*(s^2+4*s+5)), I have to design a controller "C" to ensure rise time less than 3 sec and overshoot less than 5%. Considering F( input) = 1 and H =1.
    Because, it is hard to find the value of C by tunning different values.

      No, the root locus is valid for any amount of poles. The equations for things like PO and settling time that are functions of wn and zeta are only exactly valid for 2nd order systems.
