I think this car might be around 4200-4400 pounds. The 2 door will be lighter because it won't have the extra doors with power windows and door mechanisms. Also the inline 6 is lighter than the hemi. Now the all wheel drive may make it about even with the hemi motor. All and all i think this thing will be fast with the AWD and a downpipe and a tune would make it about 600-650 hp plus better gas mileage. Yeah the sound won't be as good but I'm still excited about it. Wish the ICE version came out first. Great video bro!!
This is a really solid video. You used what information you were able to find to the best of your ability. I don't know how accurate loosely equating the weight all the extra components of the EV to that of the ICE will actually turn out to be, but it's a fair decision. Similar to what you mentioned, I believe the HO is definitely taking the GT in digs at the very least. Personally, I still just can't believe how huge this vehicle is. I drive my current car, let's just say, a bit recklessly. I definitely couldn't be driving this battleship of a car the same way.
I really believe the 2 door charger with H.O. will come in around 4500-4600 pounds. All wheel drive will most likely give it an edge over the S650. New Mustang isn’t exactly light neither. Let’s not talk about the sound. 😂
The hurricane will smoke a gt or any 392 off the line and that turbo will push it over on the top end my money on these new and very tunable twin turbos
Can you calculate power to weight with 2 different cars with different ways of applying power to the ground?..the new charger is awd…the gt is rear wheel drive (spin city)..does this calculation apply to any scenario when both these cars meet at a light or track?…because as of right now the closest thing we got to the New hurricane is the BMW g80’s and those absolutely smoke gt’s and 392’s
@@RUBIX3 as long as the hurricane keep the charger below 4800lb’s it should be keeping up with G80’s from the light at least. I understand it’s gonna be a heavy car regardless but the set up when you accommodating the weight with the big tires up front and back and depending on how the 6 pack is tuned with the 550hp it will be interesting regardless to see the potential power that can be pulled from that platform.(cat x)
@lafosh7234 g80s have atleast 580hp to the crank, and weight right at 4000lbs with xdrive, plus are capable of hitting 60 at 2.8 sec, i doubt they could keep up with my 23 m2 same engine as the m3/m4 with 50hp less, six pack has no chance against g80s.
Not sure why people are so concerned about weight. Heavier vehicles are safer and more stable than lighter. Well, what we don't know is how much metal can be subtracted for the Six-pack frame. It shouldn't need all the reinforcement that is needed in the EV to support the big heavy battery.
I think that 6-pack will come in a little over 5k lbs. That’s a really big vehicle. If anything, Dodge should have went smaller than the previous version. Edit: Thanks for going over the weight numbers on the 6!
Because of the space that the batteries take up; they had to design the car around the battery pack and electric motors etc.... There's really no way to make it smaller. Since the EV model and ICE versions share the same platform then unfortunately; both versions are going to be big and heavy. I still want the two-door scat version though.
Your analysis seems spot on but I’m sure hoping you’re wrong. The weight of the EV makes it a no go for me and a 4600lb I6 is too heavy also. Weight affects much more than just acceleration.

Finally getting an American midsize 2 door coupe again is awesome, it will be in a class of one. Only a very small % of potential buyers would care about the speed limiter & whether or not it can out-drag a smaller Mustang GT pony car. Hopefully the coupe version sells well so Ford & GM would consider bringing back midsize coupe models as competitors, like a new 4 seat Thunderbird & Monte Carlo.😊
When I thought dodge was going to make it lighter with the hurricane engine. It got heavier and more expensive than the lighter more powerful and cheaper hellcat.
With a 2-door and 4-door variant, the new Charger could easily lose to the Ford Mustang GT/Dark Horse and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, respectively. Because those cars have a V8 and come standard (and exclusively) with RWD. Plus, while I prefer automatic transmissions in every vehicle like most Americans do, the Mustang and CT5 are available in manual as well for those who prefer to control the gears themselves, which is now a very uncommon feature in any American car. However, those are mid-size cars and the Charger is full-size (including the new ones). So if Dodge would just listen to their furious fans’ criticism and include the same powertrain options as its predecessors, then they could keep up the competition. All the negative comments and reviews about the new Charger ever since its official reveal are only increasing to this day so it could act as a petition to prove to Dodge that they’re making a huge mistake.
