Karuk simply having lost his love wasn't the only thing. He literally gave his ENTIRE being to save the human realm to fight off the neglected spirit realm, which Yanchgen the previous air avatar neglected as she merely did only half of the job as the avatar with the duties for the human realm. Had Karuk not done so the human realm was going to be screwed therefore he couldn't do both whereas Yangchen did not have that excuse, he did nothing wrong and yet he's the one that went down throughout history as one of the worst avatars when Yangchen is celebrated as one of the better ones. Funny how Roku's problem became inherited by Aang with history having repeated itself being represented with Yangchen to Karuk. Suffice to say screw her, justice for Karuk!
not to FUCKING much on yangchen is she perfect no did she make mistakes yes but did she own up to them and felt bad for them YES and she didnt want praise she hated it and it is not all her fault the spirits went evil i guarantee if she knew siding with the humans would cause the spirits to go evil and kuruk so many problems she would not have shes not a bad avatar for always siding with humans people tend to separate the avatar from people when the only diff is they can use all four bendings and their the bride between the worlds they are still human and what do humans make MISTAKES
People like to talk about this case with next to no information. Yangchen did not neglect the spirits, she just kept pleading for humans which made the spirits more and more angry.
An example.
A spirit attacked a village, Yangchen came and made a deal with the spirit that the people of that village will leave a particular place sacred, no planting and no building.
😮The people broke this deal and then the spirit decided it was going to KILL ALL THEIR CHILDREN.
Yangchen was obviously not going to let that happen so she made another deal that the spirit reluctantly accepted. Things like this happening over and over again is what caused the spirits to go dark in Kuruk’s time.

And it should have stayed Roku in this series because Roku has a connection to the story if how the war started. It should gave been Roku that gave him the vision
Why is everyone getting hard for Roku? He's the one who technically allowed the war to happen when he didn't kill Sozin when he had the chance.
Besides, Aang needs wisdom from all the past Avatars not just Roku

I like this show as a whole but I really wish they hadn’t taken out the sexism Katara faced from Paku. The women that I speak to and watch the show with have said Kitara standing up to him and not backing down or holding her tongue/apologizing when she knew she was right was so important and meaningful when they saw it in the cartoon as kids and teens. It wasn’t about her proving anything to Paku but showing she knows she has what it takes and closed minded being the only thing in her way
I felt like they tried to do it but failed / did a forced version. The biggest problem I think is that Katara isn't as proactive/independent/fiery as in the show. In the show Katara and Sokka were equal in terms of who called the shots, often times leaning towards Katara. Here Katara is too much of a good girl to stand up for herself properly. She tries, but it doesn't come out as believable when she says she wants to fight. She looks harmless. You could tell anime Katara was ready to throw down from the tone of her voice alone. She sounded sure of herself and she was. Here, she feels like a complete support character. Supportive to Ang, supportive to Sokka, she wants to fight to support her friends. The writing puts her in conflicts where she stands up for herself against Sokka, Pakku, etc. but the actress just doesn't look/sound like someone who would stand up to others. She looks/sounds like a kitten trying to speak up while anime Katara was a mama bear in the making.

Feel Jerry here. I think the live adaptation isn't consistent with incorporating martial arts-like movement into bending. All of Zuko's firebending scenes are good because he's consistent with the martial arts and it's like how bending is in the cartoon, but not all the characters are bending that way and it looks goofy sometimes.

Lt Jee and Zuko are on a good streak. I like the respect coming back. It was the somewhat the strom episode last episode but it is just the Lt that knows not a group or the whole ship. Yeah they were attacked in the show here they are just welcomed no issue. Zhao throwing shots at Iroh just like in the show calling him a failure. There were fox spirits in the show but they were connect to the Library and Wan shi tong not to princes yue. You are right Aang had some practice in water bending by this point in the show but I feel that they will make Katara shine more as his teacher this way.
late but Jerry is right. Live Action Katara has no "feminine" or female rage. She was very hot headed in the animation when fighting master Paku-100% standing on business like "tf you mean women can't fight? *water whip*" but the live action felt like "... well I don't wanna be a healer so I guess I'll fight the master"
There was also a ticking clock of a year I think they removed that fromt his series because it will take time for these actors to age and film.

I'm a tad bummed Katara is a tad gloomy and isn't as fierce and hot-tempered like the cartoon but at the same time, I remember in this live-action Katara saw her mother burned alive with her own eyes compared to the cartoon where the mom told her to run away so she didn't see exactly what happened. I think that would make anyone gloomy.
Although, Katara doesn't seem to be all that motherly here too. This could work in favor if they want to establish Katara and Aang's romance later on. Their biggest flaw was always how Katara seemed like a mom to him but in this live action she seems like an actual friend than his mother.
Yes, No mama bear katara makes the relationship with Ang much more believable but makes all the scenes where she snaps at someone seem forced. The scenes where she helps Ang are perfect and their chemistry is great. The scenes where she snaps at Sokka or Pakku are not. It's cool that she stands up for herself, but she just doesn't come off as someone who can throw down if the situation calls for it.
Hahn is not an asshole here. Aang never spoke to kuruk until he was on that lionturtle in the end. There is alot more speaking to other Avatars in this version. Kuruk actually was the youngest Avatar to die. He lived only 33 years. After him Kyoshi lived the longest out of all avatars 230 years. Koi stole Umi's face. Umi was Kuruks wife. Yue was only connected to the Moon spirit not any foxes. Kuruk was not so dark and bitter in the show. In the show Aang was on Katara side and wanted her to learn in fight here he is worried about her safety because of his own duties as the Avatar. Zuko undercover shit I see you broski. No breath of fire. Pakku and Katara fightis kinda spot on even her ice discs. There is no connection to Gran Gran tho thats different I like that it wasn't so convenient. No breath of fire for Zuko either where he had to swim under water and melt the ice.
All true lol. But they had to do changes I guess to accomdate season 2. To me the changes didn’t really affect the story as much. But yea they did put in and sped up some things from later seasons
