Daniel, don't listen to the negative comments. I've been listening to Bach for almost 50 years, and I think your performance of this piece is fantastic! You play like a rock star. You make Bach come alive. Virgil Fox would be proud of you. Copying everyone else's interpretation of Bach would make you blend into the crowd. (Boring.) Please give us more!
I’m late to this party but just wanted to say that I absolutely love this. I was listening to Bach on Apple Music and really liked this song. I’m happy to have found this version. It’s the best.
@@DanielOberzaucher After Listening carefully to this video several times. Conclusion: Bach's baroque organ style performed in an orchestral (somewhat romantic) way is a very special experience. Should be done more often.
Vielen dank :)
This is beautiful! I was searching to find the real Friesach organ. I do have the Friesach sample set but wanted to hear it live. The sample set is great but there is nothing like the real thing. Thank you for being part of this great organ.
Well, there's a reason why I told Piotr to sample it ;) Glad you also like the sampleset as well as the real deal! Real is always best, for sure. But I'm always amazed how close the Samplesets come to a real thing already :D
It's so wonderful! I've moved that the real Friesach organ sound is so powerful! I've just started to learn how to play pipe organ in Japan, and I've been practicing this piece with the Friesach organ sample set at home. I'm so honored I could see your performance who made the sample set! Also I thank my friend who found this video for me. I was very encouraged. I will practice a lot. Thank you so very much.
Incredibly beautiful rendition, Daniel! I hope you will record many, many more classical organ pieces by all the Masters. You are, yourself, a Master Organist!!!
Thank you very much! I'll upload some new pieces soon ;) I still don't see myself a master organist, I still got a long way, but it seems I'm not doing things that wrong :) All the best! :)
Wow! Hut ab!!!! Ausgezeichnet gespielt.
I really enjoyed watching and listening to you play this famous piece. It was well played. I think doloroso means painful, and I would not want to listen to something that is painful. This is also a very nice organ. In case you didn't know, it was sampled this summer by Piotr Grabowski and is now found on his website for free download, (although you should make a donation for his labor of love) so it can be played through Hauptwerk. I just downloaded it and am playing it through Hauptwerk. It is a lot of fun to play. Keep up the good playing and I will keep watching and listening.
Thank you so much! Indeed, it's a very nice organ. Actually I was the one who organised that instrument to be sampled, and I also think the added 32' in the Pedal is a great enrichment to it! Also one to come (Strassburg) was able to be sampled, same story. I'm really happy it worked out so well and the set sounds nice to many people, which is a good feedback. Of course live is still best ;) All the best! Daniel
Anytime again! Actually there are still some organs planned to be sampled here, but only if Grabowski has time. It also includes a historical baroque organ from 16th to 17th century . :)

Thank you! :) No, I just pulled out the big mixture of the great if I'm not mistaken. The Chamades were used just in the Prelude, and they are (sadly) not that powerful as they could be :) Greetings!
+Michael Martens Danke, danke! So ises. L.g. MegaDani141
My goodness, you've certainly got *that* one, perfectly! I think this must be your best upload so far. The church and organ are stunning, and your playing in this case is highly professional. Well done! (Some questions: Who built the organ, and how do you prevent 'stiff' music books from closing themselves, with no music clips to hold them open? Why did you need headphones? Was it because of the long reverberation period in the building?)
Hehehe, thanks! :D The organ is by Eisenbarth (Passau and I've already visit his company!) and is just wonderful to play on. :) Either you use clips as you suggested or you use a little wight right down the pages of the book. But as I played it from mind I didn't have any problems with that ;) The headphones because I like the sound down the church more than up here AND because the swell just have so much power so you can't sit up there for about 10 minutes without covering your ears ;) The chamades aren't that loud at all compared to the full swell! Greetings from Austria!

Hi! :) For sure you have the version of Andre Isoir in mind. To play it slower expresses much more gravity, but my organteacher let me practice it this way, so I played it just like that :) Maybe a more "german-bach" like version of this piece is comming soon ;) The Headphones were once, for ear protection, because the Recit is right in front of you, and is very loud, and second to hear the sound from downstairs in the church :) Greetings from Austria, MegaDani141
Danke!
Hi! I've answered this question before in another comment ;) It's because the swell is situated right in front of the console and is just too loud here. Also I like to hear the sound from the downstairs microphones :) All the best, Daniel
Any musician with just a minimum of musical understanding would agree that this piece is doloroso in character. I have never played it otherwise. Futhermore, one wonders why you choose to play it so terribly rubato and unevenly. It makes it all sound superficial, i.e. no weight is given to any individual phrase. They all come to mean ......nothing. Is this breakneck speed because you are in a frightful hurry to get home to your afternoon tea??
Then for sure you wouldn't mind telling me what famous organist would say that it should be played doloroso ;) And just because you didn't play it otherwise my version isn't ok? I just want to transport the feeling of the piece I have when I play it, and that's what I did. If you talk so musically, then why can't I see a video of you playing that piece on your channel? No offense, but instead of complaining and saying it should only played that way, please respect the artistic freedom, that's what gives music it's variety and liveliness after all :)
Whoever you are, you are an arsehole. `Doloroso‘, is it? I don‘t know of an edition that specifies this (or indeed any description or tempo marking for any P&F by JSB). It is an early and relatively immature work, but, in a big building, and with the prelude treated as `Stylus Phantasticus‘ (which is what it essentially is, with JSB still under the compositional influence of Buxtehude, Böhm etc.), it can have a tremendous impact. I do not play it quite this way, but there are many similarities with my interpretation, and I commend Daniel on an exciting rendition of the piece. As for the `breakneck speed’ remark…well, sometimes one has to tell another person they are, quite simply, wrong. And you, Sir/Madam, are wrong.
Daniel, don't listen to the negative comments. I've been listening to Bach for almost 50 years, and I think your performance of this piece is fantastic! You play like a rock star.
Amazing performance. Tempo is perfect, not too fast.
I’m late to this party but just wanted to say that I absolutely love this. I was listening to Bach on Apple Music and really liked this song. I’m happy to have found this version. It’s the best.
Thank you so much! It's not a traditional version, but for me it also doesn't sound too wrong :)
I can't understand why you say it's not traditional, it is such a pushing performance!
This is a perfect spot for JSB .
Congratulations!
For me this is a wonderful interpretation of this piece.
The sound of this organ also makes it the most beautiful version of this piece for me.
Thank you very much! So my different approach to the piece wasn't that wrong as it seems :)
All the best! :)

Klasse Interpretation!
Orgelix Danke! :)
Awesome organ and awesome performer.
Wonderful - both the church and the music! Good Easter!
Thanks!
Also for you a happy Easter! :)
Very good ! And this organ is impressive ! It must be a pleasure to play on it !
It definitely is or let's say was. Also because it is so big and the acoustic is also just beautiful :)
Greetings from Austria!

Ausgezeichnet gespielt.
Bravo maestro...muchas gracias!!!!
Thanks!
absolutely fantastic performance! AMAZING!
Thank you so much! :)
Amazing to hear and see this organ besides from Hauptwerk.
Definitely. But I'm always amazed how well the sampleset sounds even compared to the real organ :D
Truly glorious!

@Daniel Oberzaucher, how far are the microphones placed from the organ?
phew, been some time since that video... So I can't really remember to be honest... But I suspect about 7m -ish? Could be wrong thou :)

This young man doesn't have much sense of rhythm. Besides, it's meant to be "doloroso".
Thanks for the comment :)
So who says it has to be played "doloroso"? Bach himself? ;)
