Finally someone spoke about the 3.0 overheat issue, I posted many times in the reedit as well, but no one could answer properly, I also noticed that it got really hot, especially at 4k 120, which I have never experienced before, and the same lenses I have also felt the same. even if it's updated

My A7s3 overheated today for the first time ever. after the 3.0 update....indoors after 15 minutes of 4k 60. also several mass transfer attempt fails via the USB c port. Never had that either prior to 3.0

Maybe they will fix all these issues with a future firmware version... hopefully...

I dislike these camera companies because they created these mirrorless cameras without fans knowing they'd over heat. This is in my opinion to push videographers to buy their more expensive video centric cine line. My A7IV overheats at the most in opportune times. I have to be careful what jobs I use it for. Canon is no better they actually changed the firmware in the R5 after a backlash about the over heating. I give credit to Panasonic for finally putting a fan in the S5II. Of course there is the FX3 and FX30. The battery thing is a battle that's been going on for many years. Every new version they tried to do something to prevent you from using 3rd party batteries.

Mine just overheated in standby, with a Sony battery in it

It didn't overheat before this firmware update......a fan isn't required for long record times. Camcorders have been recording for 6 hours straight in 4k for years without fans. You're telling me mirroless cameras have to have fans in them for long record times? This is Sony/Canon/Panasonic tiering out their camera lineups to get you to buy their more expensive options in most cases.

@@TennisUnleashed All professional camcorders have fans. Cameras today are mini computers so to not have an active cooling system is intentional or negligent.

Since the 3.0 Update my A7s III shut off twice because of overheating. (Of course Auto Off Temp is set to high)
One time in 4k All I with 50fps - one time in 4k XAVC S in only 25fps. Both times i was in a studio with around 23-25 degrees celsius room temperature.
That never happened to me with the old firmware, even under much worse circumstances, like full sun over 30 degrees…
    I wish I could downgrade the firmware…

sad to hear this... with the screen flipped to the side it also does this?

@@1FLASHstudios Yes - the screen was flipped to the side all the time. I have my A7s III since it was released in 2020 and have been shooting a lot with it - I think I've never even seen the heat warning icon appear till the 3.0 update and for sure not turning off in cause of heat.
Maybe the basis of the 3.0 firmware is coming mostly from the FX3 (with the internal fan) and with that has different "heat thresholds", that don't work for the A7s III. If it is like that, the question would be: Did Sony keep it like that intentionally or did they miss to adjust it?
