1000! Have to admit that I get so jacked over all these VW Restoration channels. Had a 68 VW Beetle back in the 80s. Learned how to drive a stick with it and never went back to an automatic. Gift from my grandfather after having lesrned I got jumped by some punks for a thrill.
Thanks Mike ------ I think of you are the only one really explaining how and the problems you might encounter in putting the body back on the pan ----- the alignment problems ---------- others show putting the body on ---- but not saying what they had to do in in getting on ------ So, Thank you for pointing out where the problem area might be and how you go about fitting it together ------ It looks even better on the pan ----- hope the color of the body and doors match when you get them on ------- Thank You ---- Rodney
Looking nice Mike! Even the helicopter guy came back for another look! Thanks for showing us the truth about paint runs instead of giving us some BS about being perfect!
Mike, you are a very knowledgeable person. Your experience shows. My only suggestion is that you repeat yourself. Read off note cards or write yourself a script. Car looks wonderful!
🎉🎉 so glad to see it on her Pan again...i watch it from the first video thru the months and I am almost happy as you Mike😂...and as the Pan install or body install on Pan you are so right baut that ..once you did it on the ground a lift is a blessing...😂..so just one more thing ..we use to put the Rubber on Pan with little steel nails as it came from the factory Like that...Nice Job doimg it alone man..props to you Mike..chees from Croatia ...🎉🎉
Hay Mike on the next Build you do don't poke hols in the pan seal you will find out its not hard to use the og bolts to do the job for you put body on and the bolts have a point on them for this reason push the bolt righ through it and it will find the hole + the more rubber you have around the bolt the better I did this on my 67 bug didn't take any longer . Allso this is for everyone use the original style carpet nails put them in the original holes to hold down the gasket this helps from moving If you need more nails just order more. I believe they come in a bag of 10 or 15. I don't remember you can always drill a small hole if you need more nails to hold down your gaskit for your body Pan.
Just put my body back on a few days ago and then found this video. Found I had the same experience fighting those captive plate bolts in the front and in no way was i able to "2 finger" the bolts in. That hole punch woulda been helpful, i poked, like you did, then just out the bolt in. Fought the rubber seal whole time but.... better seal when there's a smaller hole? Bigger fight too, so your choice. Thanks for the video, got my like!
Tip from my pop years ago to me to offer as a suggestion for some I've done in the past. Which was to cut the heads off 4 long bolts for the front bolts and made them into stub guides to align it and have the threaded nut hunt avoided. Just thought I'd mention it. Looks Great Mike ! As always and wouldn't expect any less from your talent. I really like that color too, Classy. Didn't it originally have Red interior didn't it ?. 👍👍👍
I swapped a body over for a better body many years ago. The only bolts to give me trouble was the two fronts on your passenger side ( our drivers side). Had to learn from scratch how they worked
They're all mine. Some I keep some I sell I'm probably going to keep this one. I build then the same either way. I never build a car just to sell that I do a crappy job on
Awesome Mike! You have no idea how helpful these videos are for the rest of us. Huge thanks for all the instruction.
Best V Dubs Channel in the 🌍... gonna be one fine ride...

Nicely done Mike!! Dang I love that color!!
Great work, I like your common sense and your quote “just get it done” 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

G'day Mike,

Your going to need more garages.

Yeah good ol Single edge, razor blade. I use all the time.

yea use some all thread in the bolt holes before you drop the body....good idea for guys without a lift.
Should of used some long bolts with the heads cut off and use at all four corners to align it.
Great vid
What color paint did you go with if you dont mind me asking
In case you missed my last messgae Mike, DEMOP Garage (you tube) s restoring a Krarftenwagen Ambulance.
Looks excellent Mike! Look out for those government helicopters
Great video again
Less talking more wrenching
was that single stage? i dont understand how you fix the runs if you scrape off too much clearcoat
i have same question
2 stage high solids clear. there is plenty on the run area to scrap off then sand and buff. cant do this with single stage.
Did you know you almost hit the roof of your garage when rolling out the body.....lucky.
How much would this car sell for?
Looks good
Hey Mike you got info on the paint you used
I swapped a body over for a better body many years ago. The only bolts to give me trouble was the two fronts on your passenger side ( our drivers side). Had to learn from scratch how they worked
yea just depends. sides sometimes and sometimes not. just depends on the car.
Nice. Are these customer cars or do you restore then sell them..
No; his car. He doesn’t do outside work.
They're all mine. Some I keep some I sell I'm probably going to keep this one. I build then the same either way. I never build a car just to sell that I do a crappy job on
Any '54's that aren't oval rear windows?
no
just helps in the title oval and 54.
Mike you seem to worry about what they think. It’s different when your doing it
Not really as much as I just worry about people being misled thinking it's going to be super easy to put the body back on the pan. it's not usually
Did you work at the Dealer w/ Paul?
I never worked at the dealer but at VW specialty shops. And I also worked at just a regular repair shop and some body shops and custom paint places.
@@Mikefngarage I remember meeting you once. Nice car.
Why on earth would you film half this video by holding the camera in your hand?
IM AV SUNDAYS & MONDAYZ....
Looks good nice bug have a great day
