Peter Anderson and Nikki Cousins review the Kia Sorento SLi diesel.
The Kia Sorento marched straight to the top of the large, seven-seat SUV segment when the third-generation model arrived in mid-2015, setting a new segment benchmark for refinement along with the important family credentials of value and room for all.
The mid-spec Sorento SLi scrapes just beneath the magical $50,000 barrier with the optional diesel engine, which also brings all-wheel drive.
A two-wheel drive petrol V6 version is available for $3500 less, and like all new Kias, the Sorento is backed by the brand's industry-leading seven-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
But is it worthy of Nikki and Peter's families? They've put it to the Torquing Heads test to find out.

I've just ordered a 2017 Sorento to replace my 2011 version. Not that I dislike my old car but the new model is another leap forward in build quality and design.
