Im a west end man still.. but I remember when this happen.. and it shake up the whole city! Can you cover the deadly summer shootings of 1996.. Caribana weekend..? It was a shooting that happened along the parade route on Lakeshore Blvd on Aug. 3, 1996 - it involve a 23yr old yute from Oshawa named Elrick Christian who got shot in his head and killed.. and three other people get hit including a nurse visiting from England who got her spine shattered from a stray bullet and get paralyzed from the waist down during the Caribana parade.- I was right there at that shooting.. not even 10ft away from Elrick when he get shot in his head.. his brains was all over Lakeshore blvd.. I saw the nurse get shot too, and people trying to help her up but she couldnt stand.. I was right there when it all happen.. and I will always remember how lucky I am to still be here and to have not get lick with any of those stray bullets! I give God thanks for my life. Three mans shot up Marilyn Bell Park beside the parade route that same day and got arrested.. and the very next day on Aug. 4, 1996 2 mans from Buffalo get clap while walking near Yonge and Gould Sts. That weekend was a HOT one in Toronto.. and it was one deadly weekend I will never forget.. because I almost DEAD!

I was new to that area and didn’t know anyone so I did not even know about the bbq. When I got home from work I saw like 15 cop cars lined up in front of my building and my partner at the time told me there was a shooting. From then on it was a nightmare, everyday I left my apartment I was dodging the reporters from different news stations. RIP all that passed away on that tragic day.
I lived in that area over 2 years. Not even originally from Toronto. 30 years later STILL trying to get the monsters from that area 100% out of my life.

To this day, I still can't even believe this happened. Super chill guy I'm pretty sure he was a barber as well if I'm not mistaken. Rest in Peace to both souls lost that day.
My buddy was one of many many robbed and murdered at Malvern in the 80s I'm really old school back in the day they would go there for drugs and get robbed and killed when the cops told his girlfriend they found him they said he was the third one that week and they said it's been going on for a while not sure they ever caught them Capri east mall Regent park Jane and Finch Jamestown it was happening at all of them the dude that got shot in Regent park by the kid on the bike my brother in law opened the door and the kid on the bike almost hit him he went to his car and all he heard was shots he shot some guy six feet away from where he just opened the door it could have been him he came running back in the house the building where it happened that was in the 2000s
I'm from the west end and me and my girl got invited to this BBQ and were told it was a Hennessey block party. God was on my side that day because no matter how I tried to reach I kept getting lost. By time I reached the whole block was lit up with so many ambulance and police cruisers I never seen so many in my life.Verry tragic day.

Crazy times back then, nuff War was happening. The sad thing is that I know I was so close to the shooters doing dumb shit and look where things ended up. Not gonna lie doh 2004-2010 Scarborough was lit even doh nuff things was happening its my home

My husband’s friend was the guy who died. He went to university with him. When he told me the story, it broke my heart. So sad. This is one of the many reasons why I have hood PTSD. As someone who grew up in the hood, the unexpected violence was always a fear. People are just so reckless.
I went to a barbeque there before! They were a jamaican family and they slaughtered a goat in their back yard and there was traces of blood all over the house. They made curry goat for the party😢

The sound of automatic fire was terrifying it sounded like someone had a uzi or mac . Just seeing the people running and screaming il never forget the terror on peoples faces 😒
This was the saddest day of my teenage life I lived in danzig 15 years nothing like this ever happened there the media portrayed it to be the worst when nothing happens in danzig it was a great community rip to the victims I moved out of danzig in my highschool years but always went back cause my friends still there till this day and shockingly shyanne died right in front of my old house anyway good video and danzig will always be my home aka DBLOCK! My condolences to the victims
