hi everyone!! i wrote up the written pattern for whoever needs it, if you spot any mistakes please let me know!!
    Sunflower Coaster 🌻☀️🌼
(I'm using yellow and brown yarn with a 3.5mm crochet hook)
after each round don't forget to slip stitch to the top of the next stitch so everything looks nice and neat!
    Round 1: (brown)
make a magic circle, chain 2, and make 12 double crochets.
    [total stitches] = 12
    Round 2: (brown)
insert hook in the GAP between the 2 double crochets and slip stitch, chain 3 and then make a double crochet in the SAME stitch. make 2 double crochets in each GAP until you finish the round!
    [total stitches] = 24
    Round 3: (brown)
make a slip stitch in the GAP of the 2 double crochets, chain 3 and make a double crochet in the same space. in the next space make 1 double crochet, in the next space make 2 double crochet. follow the pattern, 2,1,2,1 etc until you finish the round!
    Round 4: (brown)
insert hook into GAP and make slip stitch, chain 3, into the same stitch make a double crochet, in the next 2 spacesmake ONE double crochet in EACH. follow the pattern of 2 double crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 double crochet until you're done the round!
make one chain and cut yarn to start round 5.
    Round 5: (yellow)
join the yarn and chain 3 and make a double crochet in the SAME space. in the next 3 spaces make one one double crochet EACH. follow the pattern of 2:1:1:1 repeat until you finish the round.
    Round 6: (yellow)
chain 1, insert into the same stitch and make a single crochet. into the next 2, make one single crochet each, (total of 3 single crochet). then chain 5 and make a single crochet in the same stitch. make 5 more single crochet in the next 5 stitches (1 single crochet each) then repeat.
    Round 6: (yellow)
make 5 double crochet into the space, chain 4 and then slip stitch into the beginning of that chain (hard to explain, watch the video 14:40) make 5 double crochet in same gap. slip stitch in the 3rd/4th chain and then repeat the pattern. 5 double crochet, chain 4, slip stitch to beginning, 5 double crochet
repeat until you finish the round. cut yarn and weave in ends and you're done!!!
hope it turned out well! 🌻🌼☀️

Thank you for your video. Your explanation was great, as I have difficulty processing many instructions, but yours were very easy to follow. I have been crocheting very simple things on and off for about 6years (blankets, scarves, and one beret that I made up and hoped it would turn out), but have never understood what stitches were called, until now. I made the sunflower using your pattern whilst watching your tutorial and it turned out wonderful! I’ve love it! Thank you again!

I have tried this coaster several times. It won't lie flat as if I have too many stitches. I don't. I'm wondering if it's due to working in the space between the posts but I don't know how to keep it from rippling if I continue to follow that particular instruction.
