Love this! Looks high end with those metal corners and the pattern on the cover. Now I had to look up what PU meant because I couldn't stand not knowing what it was and this is what I've learned. PU, a synthetic material, has the texture of real leather, is very strong and durable, and is inexpensive. PU is an abbreviation of polyurethane.
I need to make one for my granddaughter. She just turned 13 and loves journals. We got her 2 for Christmas. One for a diary and one for notes at church. If I make her one, I know it will be special to her! Thanks for the easy paper craft!
I just love your calm and peaceful manner and how clean and neat you keep your work area. Watching you, without making a mess, create a beautiful bound journal out of plain, kind of ugly, journals was so inspiring. It was so relaxing to just watch you work your art.
I used to love to craft. My garage is filled with boxes of supplies. When my life became too overwhelmed with daily burdens and responsibilities, I lost interest in making my beautiful hand-crafted items.
I just finally put all my supplies away. It was just too hard to see all the beautiful pieces just wasting away.
After watching you I realized how much I miss crafting and how comforting to the soul creating a beautiful item can be.
You are truly blessed and have blessed me with this video.

This is a great idea! Thick journals are expensive! Better to get them at the Dollar Tree and convert them. I’m going to poke around my local Dollar Trees and see what I can find.

Sherri I get faux leather at dollar tree. They are solid colors. It's in a box where they have boxes of vinyl. Never notice if they have prints. I use it sometimes for the spine of a notebooks I make.

I've taken the larger journals and combine them. Started after my mother tried to throw away journals she only used about a quarter of. Took them apart and combined them. Since then, she has been giving me her partials lol. (She also tends to buy me 15 of the cheap journals when they get put on sale at Walmart. I have too many journals >_

I love this idea! I have an eleven year old granddaughter that just starting on a journey living with autoimmune hepatitis. I think this would be a perfect way for her to record any issues, meds, things that work and etc. ❤

I've been passionately in love with books - the making and the reading of them - since I was a little girl (I'm now 56) and have been a professional artist for 30 yrs, and I have to THANK YOU for this incredibly CLEVER AND FUN AND BEAUTIFUL IDEA!!! True enough, I can't believe I never thought of this!!! LOL
Dollar Tree also has foe leather in the craft section in a box that mimics the vinyl used in a vinyl cutting machine.

PU is polyurethane. Plastic. So it's not real leather, and that makes me happy! Vegan here, so that's all I buy. Great video! 😊

The concept of redoing these , Thank You for sharing ! I am always buying yese for quick notes, appts etc keeping them by the phone. Now can make one my own !
I just bought three books at dollar general, but they were not as nice as yours. and they were thin, so I think I want to use your tutorial and combine all three of mine in the same way. I do not have the fake leather but thought why not use a quilt batting and fabric and cover mine with that. I would add embellishments by sewing them on main fabric first before adding back then adding to the combined books. I needed this tutorial today so thank you very much.

I decided to try this because I have about 30 or so unused journals already. Ordered the faux leather. It came today. Today I found out that my journals that I planned to use were larger than I thought. They are 5.25 by 8.25. I measured and cut wrong. Really, I could only shake my head because I was too anxious. Disappointed, but at least I tried!
