- At the Spring Community Hub, a local food-bank and family project supported by The Childhood Trust, the Childhood Trust's Chief Executive, Laurence Guinness explains the impact of the 2 child benefit cap on low-income families. The policy is making life even harder for Adele, a mother of 6, who explains how the policy is impacting her children. The two-child limit was introduced in 2017, and restricts support provided through Tax Credits and Universal Credit to two children in a household (for children born after April 2017), with some exemptions. Households lose £55 per week for each affected child. As of April 2022, 1.3 million children were living in households affected by the two-child limit. This means almost 9% of children in the UK (8.7%) now live in households affected by the two-child limit.
