  • Unfortunately we live in a cruel, nasty world (sometimes). Recently at the park, Ava and Alexis (mixed-race), were called the N word. We decided to take the opportunity to talk about this publicly to bring light to an unfortunate situation. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

A white guy called me that once and God made me realize he hated himself and not me, so I chose to forgive him.

Their melanin doesn't make them "BLACK" Teach them to be proud of their ancestry and not ashamed of my ancestry because we are not ashamed... it's the new immigrants of all cultures that continue to misrepresent my ancestry... their Nigerian family is educated and successful... that is their lineage... THEIR PRIDE! We shouldn't encourage a Nigerian-American child to continue a fight that we already won. Tell them the TRUTH... TELL THEM THAT THEIR FAMILY IS FROM NIGERIA... BUILD THEM UP AND ABOVE IGNORANCE... TELL THEM TO BE PROUD OF THE CULTURE AND ANCESTRY... TELL THEM THAT THEY ARE NOT THE SAME AS THE ENSLAVED NEGRO TRIBE WHO WAS ROBBED... Yes, I felt like saying "We don't see race" is seemingly a nice sentiment. They're trying to say "everyone should be treated with respect", which is true. But not seeing race is actually erasure of what Black people have had to endure and overcome, and ignoring their achievements and successes despite the gravity of when that word was used by people who had "ownership" over them.

I’m 62 years old, and there are a lot of things I don’t remember about my childhood, but nothing terrified me like the time I first got called the “N” word by a white kid when I was 11 years old. My then 9 year old brother and I were on a camping trip in Connecticut with our friends, who happen to be white. We had just left the restroom, and were walking through a cul de sac where tents were situated. A little girl of about 8 years old started yelling at us, “Go home “N---!” Go home! I told my brother, “Run Chucky, run!” I was afraid adults would come after us, and harm us. I was afraid they would believe we did something to the little girl. We ran so hard and so fast, back to our campsite, and told our friends what happened. I didn’t want to go back to that restroom anymore. No other white person since then has called me the “N” word. This is a different day and age, and I would have to mop the floor with someone who dares to try me now.

That is horrible. I am so sorry to hear that the girls had to experience it, however I am so proud of them how they handle it which shows how well of a job both of you Ami and Justin are doing as parents. It is an unfair world we live in and all we can do is what you have said be prepared, have conversations and instill confidence and positivity within our children.

This is what will continue to happen if we don't stand up to book banning and white washing history. Any child made to feel marginalize will result in this because we are diverse and have value and capable of being worth getting to know.

Parents, im so proud of yall(been watching since the girls were itty-bitty). I'm endeared to your family. We care about your family so much here. Please if you will- unless you already have-get them into self defence class. ASAP Great confidence building plus fitness ensues too lol. How unfortunate to have to deal with this. Your family is blessed and in doing God's will you will deal with negative people. Stay safe, prayed up and thank you for sharing with us.

"Whitney Houston nailed it with 'learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.' 🎶 Watching my kid grow up fills my heart with joy! Being there for them through thick and thin is what being a parent is all about. Now that my kid is grown, I know I did my best to make them feel loved just as they are. And even when adults tease me about my appearance, I remember the twins' advice… love yourself because you'll be with yourself forever!
    Best advice ever!! 😊🙌👏👍🏾

Greetings, I have faced adversities, been confused about the language used to describe such situation and/or circumstances, and to hear such honesty dialoge in reference to the fact that these unfortunate experience have enough of an affect that the parents feel saying something is important. Great example: Today and many other times dishearting thing may be done or said to such an affect that I can only pray the parents and the children are healing from such an exsperience. God Bless🖤

The girls are confident in who they are. They are smart, beautiful, educated, and successful. Those boys were intimidated by the girls and thought by insulting them that they were going to shake them up. They are the MCCLURE TWINS and they will not be broken.

Very goo video, good job. Parenting is not easy for anyone and kids get info from their parents and from their peers. Hence, parents must communicate with their kids and not avoid topics that may seem not necessary to the parent; for the kid will hear from their peers and the way the kids handles it may or may not set well with the parent.
