It's quite necessary to use Gravebusters on almost every Dark Ages level. Also, if you plant food Puff Shrooms, they all get plant food, and it also resets all their times before they disappear.
when l found out there's not enough shrooms l was sad shroom was my favourite in pvz then they don't even add that much and the dark ages is so fast 20 levels? why it could have more.
Tip: you should actually check the almanac as there are plants like the torch wood and starfruit where if you collect enough seed packets for them, you unlock so you could have actually unlocked a plant but haven’t claimed it yet
Here’s a tip: if your puff shrooms are about to dissapear use plant food it resets their timer and giver all the others plant food effect giving puff shrooms a “power tile” like effect
Here’s a tip try only using plants that can launch items not plants that can shoot them because the jester zombie reflects peashooters or any shooting plants peas just a heads up
The Jester zombie actually reflects projectiles, for example if you use pea shooter, he will just reflect the peas, it was kinda hard to see, because the only projectile he could reflect was puff shrooms projectile which is really small
Nenaa, the Jester Zombie does a spinning attack to grab projectiles, like the Puff-Shroom shots, and throws them back at the plants. However, Fume-shroom's fumes, Lightning Reed's lightning, and Laser Bean's laser, can't be reflected by the Jesters.
Fact: you can place a lot of puff shrooms and using a power plant on the shrooms they take more longer to disappear and it also one puff shroom power plant= all of them go off with one power plant
Tip: You should use an insta-kill plant for a specific Zombie that's gonna show up in he future that is a MUST KILL. Don't even let him get to the 1st block, just insta-kill it with like a Chilli Bean maybe? Trust me, the zombie i'm talking about is one of the worst zombies in the whole game.
Zombies such as wizard zombie are almost impossible to make them eat a plant the wizard will just Sheepify the plant so i recommend using a insta-plant that explodes/whatever instantly ones that have to be eaten or have to have a zombie close to them are pretty much obsolete

To keep puff shroom alive and reset his life span, just plant fooded him. And it gives boost to all other him. Plus sun bean useful with boosted fume shroom.
You should read the almanac whenever you meet a new zombie, some zombies have special abilities that's so situational you'd be surprised lol Example is all frostbite zombies are immune to freeze, but not to being ice blocked Probably more, or maybe just that XD

Tips: in the dark ages its useful having grave digger and the jester zombie can deflect physical projectiles from plants, such as peas, plasma balls, cabbages and many others. So don't put a repeater when jester in level. The jester can get counter by burst damage like lighting reeds, fume-shroom- laser beam, and much counter like type of melee, explode, and other. (and you still can sacrifice puff-shroom) :D
Dark Ages! Getting closer! From this point, zombies will come faster in the beginning, Puff-shroom is good for that, even for later worlds! But plant them near your sun producers, you want to give them space to handle the zombies.

Fun fact: The reason in the lost city you had the sunshrooms at one point is because the dark ages at one point (while they were still making all the levels) came BEFORE the lost city. Same thing with the alligator plant in the frostbite caves. came from a different world that hasn't come up yet. I'm not gonna spoil the names of the plant or the world it's gonna be in.

At this state it gets annoying, there will be wizard zombies, they will create ur plants into sheep, you cannot kill or do anything to the sheep, to turn it back to a plant, kill the wizard as fast as you can, ohh yeah and 1 more thing, some levels will have imp dragons, they r immune to explosion and fire attacks, including cherry bomb, potato mine, fire peashooter and etc. Keep up the good work nenna

Nenaa upgrade and use grave buster its really recommended in this world or else the game will do a custom wave like stuff called necromancies it spawns more graves and spawns random zombies and also if u see the wizard in future levels kill it before it turns ur plants into sheep (ahem ahem woolie) and lose so like use cherry bombs cause it will also turn potato mines into sheep cause logic I hope you see this comment and just as I am typing this the first necromancy in the video happened also in future levels you should try magnifying glass + laser beans will be useful but takes a lot to set up like if you don't know how op magnifying glass is in level 2 or 3 it can 5 shot a gargantuar and I think 3 shot buckets and 1 shot coneheads i hope people like this comment a lot so Nenaa can see this :) also one more thing do not and i mean DO NOT use projectile plants like cabbage pult or peashooter or repeater on jester use something like: fume shroom lightning reed laser beam and right as i was typing this i saw that u realized that u should use grave buster and also if u do use cabbage pult peashooter or repeater it will use the pea and cabbage and shoot your plants with it spike rock is the best counter to jester and I don't think the wizard can turn spike rock to sheep (ahem ahem woolie) oh and just as i was typing this u just read about him on almanac

If you plant food a puffshroom, all the puffshrooms in land will get the plant food effect + resets their time to disappear. Jester Zombie it's a zombie that reflects PROYECTILES (such as peas, cabbages, or spores) so try using non proyectile plants (lightning reed, fumeshroom) to kill him. Also the fumeshroom is way better than laser bean, it's more cheap and spammable.

Almanac should not be ignored at this point as the plants have many different gimmicks that aid and/or sabotage you.
