You made the right call leaving to get food... I've stayed at Coronado over 100 times, eaten at every restaurant, tried almost every menu item, and the best thing there for the last year, is by far that Chicken Sandwich.
To answer Russ’s question about the post…if there is one at all 3 corners, my lucky guess is that it’s so vehicles can’t go onto the bridge but mobility size scooters can.
That makes perfect sense. The problem, and what his question was really getting at I think, is the way the bar was positioned. It was very hard to see since the hollow part was facing the path.
Our most recent stay at WDW was at Coronado Springs and our entire extended-family loved it. We had rooms in Gran Destino Tower which are larger than all other moderate resorts and larger than some deluxe resorts. The resort is beautiful! We dined at El Mercado food court, Rix Sports Bar & Grill, Dahlia Lounge, Siestas Cantina pool bar, & Toledo (steak & seafood). 3 Bridges was so busy we couldn't get in & Maya Grill was closed when we were there. Food was good to excellent. The resort is huge, so if you get a room in the back like the 2 Foolish Mortals did, you will have a good walk to get to the dining options. The resort is very close to Animal Kingdom & Hollywood Studios with a 10 minute bus ride to get there. Epcot is about 15 minute ride but it is about 20-25 minute ride to Magic Kingdom. We would definitely stay there again.
Me and the family stayed here about a week ago. I was BLOWN away by it. We loved it, in our opinion it’s on par with a deluxe resort. Only down fall is the transportation. Buses take awhile with all those stop but just a minor nit pick
Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree, it's definitely on par with a Disney Deluxe resort in a number of ways, but you're also right. . . transportation isn't the best. It's manageable though so easy enough to shrug off if you're looking for a resort that's an entire vibe. At least in our opinion. 😄
Stayed near where you guys were (Ranchos) section 7A. I felt like we were so far away but close to a bus stop. It was April 2021 so a lot of the food places weren't open yet even the drink refill station wasn't available yet. We just went to the parks a lot and had food in our room. Such a nice resort but we're going to try Old Key West this summer when we go.
We hope you have a GREAT trip this summer. Be forewarned though, if you think that you were far from things at Coronado Springs. . . that's nothing compared to Old Key West. That resort is VERY spread out and definitely not as pedestrian friendly as Coronado Springs. We've done a few tours of the resort in the past, including a drive-through where you can get a better idea of just how big it is. If you're not already aware, I'd encourage you to check that out. Just so you're prepared and can plan accordingly. 😄
