i love how when gf is pretending she uses a cute artstyle, but when she's being what she really is, she becomes a more "realistic" and evil style, because that is her real nature, and that is what she pretends to be, she, is the real imposter.

That last confrontation between Black and the Girlfriend was somehow better than the songs themselves. They both genuinely gave me chills. How is Friday Night Funkin' and goddamn Among Us one of the best videos I've seen so far this year?

Bro, the lore drop in this episode is absolutely stunning. This story is a hell of worth investing. I want to see how far this rabbit over here. Dropping lower bombs and like, oh man. I feel like Matt Patt discovering a new mystery, this shit is awesome.
This really puts into perspective how much GF is willing to keep BF around. And how eventually, the facade will have to come down, and GF will have to face her demons. (Pun Intended.)

I really like how Boyfriend started to act up like Kaiba saying “Screw the rules, I have money!” and use his beans to buy a microphone to start a rap battle with Black.

So GF is just reloading (or in this case, reviving) BF over and over just for them to stay together. She really cares so much about him that she revives him from the dead.
But every time she does, and he fails, he has to relive the same pain of messing up and possibly DIE.
But if BF finds out about what she has been doing THIS ENTIRE TIME. Then OH BOY there will be so much LORE to unpack.
But after watching all this, AMAZING work as always RecD!
I kinda feel like gf is in the wrong. Making someone feel death thousands of times just because you love them isn't alright.
Honestly, if this is how the encounter with Black goes, I am super eager to see how Lord X is handled since he is not only on the same level of manipulation as Black and GF, but has power to back it up. He would probably keep a count of the number of times that GF restarts his game to try and reach BF to save him, and Lord X would always keep track and tell BF the exact number of times he has died at his hands.
Which Lord X, though? Because it can't be Cycles, that one's easier than either of Black's.

Oh my God. That was spectacular. 3 months later, and Funkin' The Musical is still living up to the hype. The first song was amazing, and I can't express how much I love it. And Finale? Oh God, that was incredible. I absolutely LOVED Boyfriend's high notes, and the insane tone in Black's voice was something else. It was insane. And when Girlfriend showed up and did her whole thing with Black, holy sh¡t. The lore goes deeper than it should've. Way deeper. This was so worth the wait, and I could never express how happy this makes me.

All honesty, I formed the same headcanon that GF is the reason BF can meet coming back. He loses the memories of his defeats, but remembers the song in order to keep going through it. A way one of my characters would describe "A petty excuse for a win condition that you can't even remember fully."

The parasite might just be my favorite character adapted into this With Lyrics series. His voice is smooth and his personality is absolutely ruthless. His breaking speech to Girlfriend was so good in the most horrible ways. It’s like he knew all the right pressure points and buttons to press to crawl right under Girlfriend’s skin… not unlike how he’s crawled right under his late traffic cone donning host.
The parasite is possibly more dangerous than someone with magic. He is highly intelligent, manipulative to the extreme, and worse, is highly sadistic, only wanting to kill and spread to end up killing in endless slaughter.
I’ve been trying to find out a good Black Impostor, and this is the best by a long shot

For those who didn't crack the code yet. The reason it says "13,542" at the beginning is most likely indicating the amount of attempts it has taken for bf to fc the song. As Gf later says "I know what you did here 13,541 times."
This is why I love RecD's videos. He tells us stuff before we even knew he was telling us. He can put it in caps and cover the whole screen and we have no idea what it means until later in the video. It is genuinely entertaining.

I absolutely love the developing lore of Girlfriend reverting boyfriend's many, many deaths. And I find it extra funny to interpret that as almost a monkeys with typewriters situation where Boyfriend is awful, but eventually is lucky enough to stumble into a win after long enough.
Edit: I don't actually think Boyfriend is awful at rapping. I said it's funny to *interpret* it in that way.

the issue is less winning the battles and more that in this universe there isn't some weird force or magic that allows boyfriend to win from outrapping people. those who do not honor the victory are the major threat.
I don't think it's that's he's bad, in one the earlier ones it's stated he can't see the notes. I have no idea if that's true anymore or not, but it really wouldn't matter because black says "one missed note I'll slit your throat" so even ONE minor mistake, like a cough, sneeze, burp, headache, or something else that would make him mess up would kill him. It's just this time he was finally able to do it perfect. Like in the lemon demon episode, he seems to have some sort of bad feeling, so maybe he can't make the same mistake twice, which would show you just how difficult blacks song is for bf
@@dravendarkplays9607 it was stated in most of Bopeebo and Tutorial that he didn’t see the notes at those specific times, but later on in Bopeebo, DD showed BF where the notes were, and we know BF can see them due to the line “no way, look at them float!”
i don't think that's quite right. we see in the week 5 video that he has some vague memory of past timelines. not enough to put the pieces together, but enough to get a "bad feeling" about things that ended poorly, and certainly enough to start to commit a song to muscle memory.
I don't think he's bad at rap battles he's really good at them but he makes mistakes and is unlucky and stupid.
Okay can i just say, whoever voiced black did a PHENOMENAL job. They really put emphasis on how black manipulates masterfully. It’s amazing!

This did NOT disappoint, and I've been waiting since you suggested "I might do Defeat if I can ever FC it" on stream!
The lore for these videos just gets deeper and deeper and I am HERE for it! Girlfriend knows what she’s doing is wrong, but she’s had so many traumatic losses that she uses it as a scapegoat for her actions. She truly loves Boyfriend, but is all too aware that unlike her, he’s mortal, and viable to lose his life with one mistake. The Impostor knows that, too. And seemingly other beings in this world know too (such as perhaps Carol), but she silences them to keep BF in the dark about her doings. I never thought I’d say this, but I agree with the Impostor, no matter how hard she tries, she can’t keep hiding the secret to his success, all the pain she’s unknowingly putting him through just keep him with her. It WILL be revealed soon, and when it does, it’s gonna be beautiful and tragic at the same time.

Although if bf does find out he could be destroyed, not about gf is reviving him, but by by how many if not all of his rap battle victories were only possible because of gf reviving him over and over and not because of his own skills. He could lose all of his confidence.
Easily your most impressive yet, your voice for Black is genuinely amazing, combined with the effects you have on it makes such a good listening experience. Lyrics are great, story is fun, great overall.
I LOVE the voice for Black! Cold, calculating, and sadistic, plus really smart and manipulative, one of my favorite villain types. The lyrics and cutscenes were just amazing!
I love bf's reaction upon learning the truth. Like he knew this guy is way more powerful than most, if not all, of his enemies but still fought back against impossible odds for the sake of everyone rather that just himself. Also loved the attempted treachery at the end; good thing bf is dating someone with powerful enough magic to stop the fight (even if it took her over 13,540 tries).
Considering the ending, im guessing Black won't be returning as a villain, and im kinda disappointed tbh; the character was done so well! And that talk he had with gf revealing some harsh truths; he's not wrong, and it looks like she knows it.
It would be cool if Black somehow got out of the deal with gf, maybe thanks to Monster, and returned with a vengeance. I know that won't happen, but a guy can dream.
I really like how you actually give bf a voice in the fnf musical, and the portrayal in your version is better than the actual game canon imo. I've gotten really attached to your take on the character and this series is just so good!

I like how it seems every time bf dies the "reset" is just gf reversing what happens and bringing bf back and the fact that she said she doesn't wanna lose another boyfriend brings me to think that maybe she did the same for tabi (which is likely our next with lyrics) and he found out and it broke his trust completely causing him to leave but this also brings the question.... who else has bf died to we know black obvi and lemon demon but had he died to whitty? Or IRIS how many deaths had he lived through considering girlfriend said over 13k times in the void that leads me to believe that boyfriend has died over 13k atleast and had boyfriend died to pico at all? So many new and unanswered questions

I don't think Boyfriend died at all until we reached the Season 1 Finale. We see him accidentally make the deal to give her his soul then and there, and that's what causes her to do what seems to be the first reload.
Apart from that, there's a tease of it in Challeng-Edd suggesting that GF had to reload the Tord section at least once, and of course, over 13K deaths in the fight with the Black Impostor. There have been no other weeks this season featuring Boyfriend as the protagonist as far as I know, so that's the most of his deaths for now.
In the Season 1 finale, Carol says “YOU CAN’T KEEP DOING THIS!” to Girlfriend. Yes, that could just be referring to the amount of times she reloaded for Tabi, but I suspect that it means she’s reloaded for Boyfriend many times too.

MY GOD! The entire musical has grown in quality over the years, but THIS! This is PEAK! The lyrics and story setup are incredible, and the lyrics are the perfect mix between accurate speed-wise and understandable! Well done RecD! So I see RecD is going down the route of Girlfriend being evil. Tabi will probably end with BF leaving GF, or him losing his soul.
Well not really. Girlfriend doesn't exactly derive pleasure from seeing her boyfriend die over and over, she literally tries to prevent and undo it. She may not be the most morally correct individual but what she's doing and why she's doing it is entirely understandable and fair. She wants to keep what she has with Boyfriend out of fear that it's the only other chance she'll ever get, and though Boyfriend still does suffer from death over and over, it's not something she wants to happen. I'm sure Boyfriend would understand since.. Who wouldn't? Again, she's horrified that what she has with Boyfriend is the last shot she'll ever have and it pains her to see that she can't always save Boyfriend.

Its not necessarily evil, but BF doesn't know that he has died before. He doesn't even realize Black has killed him over 13,000 times and GF had to rewind that many times to prevent him. It was only this attempt where Boyfriend successfully survives Black.
@@WrongJoke06 the closest he comes to knowing is just having the sensation something's off. Like when Lemon almost kills him, GF rewinds time before Winter Wonderland, BF is about to rap Lemon again till he feels, something's not right and tells GF to throw him to the sun.
It's Deja Vu. This time with Black, he questions that Black has apparently killed him in the void before but not him or Black Recall the events.
Only fragments of "Something Feels Off"
GF hides this fact by kissing him. Gets him to not question it.

The abilitys black has because hes hardcoded into the game he can teleport to other lobbies mid-game, has no cooldown, can kill imposters and crewmates, might be able to control people, and might be able to revive people. I'm personally more prone to the idea of Black being the one who gets pissed off with Boyfriend always messing up his plans, and decides to break the rules and finish him off on the Defeat screen. Either that or Boyfriend breaks the rules to try and live despite technically already having lost, and that pisses of Black for the final time too.
However, the intro was still really well done, and I like that Black kept one of Boyfriend's mics covered in blood- it's so needlessly gruesome lol.

After rewatching this video a few times, I have some questions.
First, why does Finale happen at all? Girlfriend becomes aware of the Among Us situation after Boyfriend's first loss to Black (we know this because she's the one doing the resets), and each of her resets takes him back to before Defeat. Since Girlfriend remembers every reset, she knows where Boyfriend is on all of the remaining 13,541 attempts, so why doesn't she just get him out after he wins Defeat the first time? It makes sense that she lets him win Defeat before getting him out of there, but why put him through the peril of a second song?
Also, who else remembers the resets? So far, we know that Boyfriend, Monster, and Black don't, Girlfriend does, and Carol's "You can't keep doing this!" and "This time was too far!" implies that she remembers the resets too. What about other demons? Do Girlfriend's parents remember the resets? Particular mention goes to Sarvente: most of Boyfriend's opponents have no reason to suspect that Girlfriend is manipulating things, but saving Boyfriend from Girlfriend's manipulations was Sarvente's goal during Gospel. Surely, as the top demon, Sarvente would remember Girlfriend's resets and have the power to stop and kill her once she starts doing them (especially since she was bold enough to threaten Girlfriend before the song)? I find it hard to believe that Girlfriend never reset during Gospel - this video implies that Girlfriend has to reset a lot for harder songs (as opposed to probably just once for Winter Horrorland; I think it's safe to assume that Boyfriend won that one first try), and Gospel seems like exactly the kind of song that this video retroactively implies had a lot of resets before Boyfriend beat it. How did Girlfriend get away with the resets there? All the other potential reset times are cases where Girlfriend probably is the most powerful person there, but in Gospel that's not the case...
I can answer both of those
1. Finale happens because Black is tired of BF trying and WINNING against impossible odds (Bob, Sarvente, Sonic.EXE, etc.) and the reason GF "waits" until Finale's end to save him, is simply because she needs time to locate and teleport to where they are. I mean they are in a different universe canonically.
2. Every time Boyfriend beat or lost to Black either in Defeat or Finale, Black straight up kills him. So when GF finds them, its too late and she resets the timeline. Now it's understandable to think Sarvente or DD and MM know about the resets, but it's highly unlikely. Moreover, in Gospel, Sarvente says she will take BF's soul, and never does. That means 1 of 2 things. 1. GF protected BF, or 2. GF reseted so many times Gospel became muscle memory for BF. It's more likely for it to be the second time, and we never got a counter of the attempts, until now. Remember GF has Telekinesis, the ability to fly, able to TOUCH AND INTERACT WITH SOULS FOR SOME REASON, among other things. Sarvente can only fly, and show possible futures, they're never definite. Safer to assume GF was the stronger one, as well as saying Sarv threatened her out of fear, despite her being THE demon. Remember, generations can get way stronger than their predecessors. Humans are a good example.
Now I am understanding, Bf is actually always loosing but he's immortal cuz GF is helping him retry again again until he wins, and the black imposter week is so fricking difficult. Thanks a lot for this video, it is a masterpiece, and explains a lot , I've been waiting a lot.

Even though there is We Have Megalomania RecD puts jokes in serious videos while MOTI and Juno only have entire videos dedicated to jokes.

As much I love to think of The Boyfriend as the short and caring unlucky guy who isn’t the brightest and finds himself in the most absurd situations but always wins and keeps going no matter how tough the odds are against him, the implication that The Boyfriend has not only died once, but THOUSANDS of times and The Girlfriend always brings him back actually makes a lot more sense than that “Week 5 incident” being the only time The Boyfriend had ever died and immediately been brought back to life by The Girlfriend.
Think about it, The Boyfriend has faced unbelievable challenges that are beyond deadly. He had to simultaneously hit the notes and dodge anything within a fifty foot radius when rap battling Mommy Mearest on top of a moving vehicle, he had to face Ruv’s wrath as each line made everything shake and break around him, he even had to hit every note he saw coming while dealing with the unrelenting pressure of Whitty’s “unbeatable technique” and those are only the rap battles WE saw. Imagine what challenges The Boyfriend has to face off camera. If you bet 10 billion dollars that The Boyfriend has never heard of a break before then you’d be filthy stinkin’ rich.
These challenges would be too much for anyone. Do you really think that someone as fragile as The Boyfriend physically, mentally, and socially, as stupid and reckless as The Boyfriend, and as unlucky as The Boyfriend would have a ghost of a chance of making it through any of the challenges he’s faced? He didn’t even know what notes were at the beginning. He was just guessing and getting lucky every time.
The Boyfriend has admirable tenacity and everything I said about his character earlier is spot on, but even though it makes sense, it still kinda bums me that The Boyfriend never won on the first try and isn’t actually that good. It felt SO awesome seeing The Boyfriend absolutely DEMOLISH Sarvente during Gospel. But now whenever I go back to rewatch it, I can only feel somewhat awesome about The Boyfriend’s false tenacity…
THIS is how you do a REAL plot twist! This is an unexpected development in the story, but one that makes sense in hindsight and makes certain parts of the story before the twist hit different.
