I’ve only been riding about 5-6 months but the horse I ride has never refused a jump. The only thing is, after a jump she like to zoom on, example. we are in trot she jumps over the canters for a couple of metres.
i get really confused too - thanks for being polite about it rather than critical :) i think it's very situational. if you're at home in an enclosed arena/paddock, you should let go. if you're out hacking or in an open space, you should probably hold on. or one example (this was me riding at 2:28) - i didn't think i'd be able to recover so i bailed and held onto him because he would have galloped home if i'd let go haha. hope that helps!
@@briannaharriss Okay thank you so much! I see a lot of people holding on in an enclosed arena which confused me but i get holding on while out hacking. Thanks for the confirmation!
From experience on 1:33 when your horse starts bucking don’t keep kicking it will make them more angry and they will buck more if u just say woah and sit back and not keep kicking you might have a better chance of staying on
At the time stamp 1:30 the horse only bucked because she was doing some dumb sh*t with her reins and kicking at the same time which confuses the horse and just tells the horse to kick. The horse got angry and agitated causing it to buck. So it actually the riders fault. And to add how she was leaning forward and not putting the horse on a circle to calm it down. But instead she did something stupid with her reins and kicked at the same time, without putting the horse on a circle. Causing the horse to get agitated and angry, so that’s why it kicked.

Why these riders are not taught to hold a shankel, because of this they fall off their horses. Riders hang on the reins, this injures the horse's mouth, and the horse falls along with the obstacle. The horse can be controlled without reins only with the help of a shankel
Anyone notices that a lot of these riders do not have soft hands and pulling the s**t on the horse's mouths?? Bad horsemanship. Rick Gore would give an easy analysis, vs. ignorance on here where everyone blames these beautiful animals and having no choice but to do something that may not actually good for them.
