- Today we are talking about one of my favorite weird and wacky plugins, a lot of people ask what my "Dream Synth" is, sadly I can't afford or find a real Buchla Easel so this plugin keeps me going!
Check it out here:

The Weirdest & Most Unique Synth Plugin Ever?
It's my dream hardware synth, even today nothing comes close, hopefully behringer will make one, that would be awesome
Arturia V Collection 7 is probably the best pack I have ever bought for synthesis or plugins, period. CS-80, DX7, Buchla Easel, Jupiter 8, Fairlight, Matrix 12, Minimoog....so many legendary synths emulated in this pack.
Just the cutoff i dislike
It seems to make creative sense to sometimes go with what few or none are buying.
*cracked
.....aaaand he's found out about Buchla.. . RIP bank account.
POLYRHYTHMIC DOPENESS.... I saw Suzanne Ciani for the first, on the ambient flex with the Buchla 200e. Gonna get into this more with arturia V9 , based on your overview . Niceone
hey man! ive been watching your videos for quite a while now but i dont think ive ever commented so i just wanted to say thank you for everything :) i have learned so much from watching your videos and without them i think i would still be lost! i love it man! keep up the amazing work. i really appreciate it, as do many others :P im not sure if this is the right place to ask but is there any chance of a protonica style tutorial? or anything on the more progressive side of things :) thanks again man!
Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out how to use this damn thing for forever.....
Neon P Lotus the plugin cames with an amazing manual.
I was thinking about using the easel v for psy sound for a week now. But haven't had the money to buy it :/. Amazing video. Definitely gonna buy it
what a beauty this plugin is!
Crazy sound ! Love it too !
beautiful ✨
Timbre slider on the easle is a wavefolder if I'm not mistaken.
Correct! I figured that out afterwards 🙈😂
@@DashGlitch Only remember cause I literally only yesterday watched a guy trying to recreate an easle from modern eurorack modules and then went and bought the Intellijel uFold for Softube's Modular after that. Love it. Might look at the Buchla modules too...
I thought the video would be about Sugar Bytes's Obscurium but oh boy, I think this thing takes the cake :D
Nice ambience!!!
excellent
Great video and awesome instrument, but it's a bloody CPU hog!
Hold up! What is that memory brigade plugin?!?
Wait, sorry, I have that. I just didn’t realize I did.
Maybe one day i will have enough money to buy a hardware buchla easel...
The Arturia link is cut off at ' anal...'. I was almost afraid to click! Lol
Great vid mate. As always.
i've been using a demo of this and what makes it unusable for me is that parameters can't be assigned to keyboard midi controls in pro tools. is this the case in other daws?
looks sexy )in the start i think is hardware.Thank you
Dash is this plug-in available for Logic Pro X or where can I search online to find out if it is?
Yup it’s VST and AU, check the link in description
@@DashGlitch ❤thanks boet
spent 5 hours on this synth made a bloop
Sounds like time well spent :)
@@DashGlitch For one 'bloop'? What about the next 5? Bleep?
Hi. what software is this? or what software CAN i use this plugin with? can freeware run this plugin? sorry but i am only familiar (and vaguely so) with VCV. Thanks!
This is Cubase but have a look at reaper
@@DashGlitch will do thanks! :-)
Moooooog
There is a Reaktor ensamble for the Buchla 200e, weirder
"Everybody Buchla!" (hypothetical new dance)
hm ... Merv's plugin??
I'd like a ARP odessy do they do emulations of them?
Korg does an Arp Odyssey VST as well as Gmedia Oddity, but neither sound anything like the real thing.
why the expensive real one?
For street cred only, nothing more :P
when you gonna play live after this corona bullshit? i book ticket hahaha
Your link apparently goes to a commercial product while you can find a free version-- 'The Music Weasel' by K. Brown-- of the hardware-in-question, and listen to it here:
ua-cam.com/video/rXuhrGWormI/v-deo.html
Unsure how it compares to Arturia's-- outside of the examples which Arturia's here are much better-- and 32 bits only ostensibly, but you should see his collection. Maybe the Arturia folks know about it.
From that site:
"To use those that are still 32-bit on a 64-bit system, there's jBridge : jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/
and 32Lives : www.soundradix.com/products/32-lives/ "
As for me, I have a mac, so double the trouble if I want to try this out. Or, boot up my old Dell. 'u'
Download: freevstplugins.net/the-music-weasel/
Of course there are current hardware versions of it too.
Looks nice but the developer even states that it’s not intended to actually sound like the original ;) Arturias stuff is always excellent and most of the time pretty accurately modeled on the hardware
@@DashGlitch
From K Brown's site:
"I make no claim that they actually sound like the hardware synths they are emulations of / based on / inspired-by, for none of them use analog-modeling oscillators or filters."
From Arturia's site about Buchla:
"...rather than using synthesizers to imitate other instruments, one [Buchla] sees electricity itself as the instrument..."... and, "$149 buy now".
Maybe try both, use your ears/heart/sense of aesthetics, etc., and consider your wallet.

@@glomerol8300 not sure what in that Arturia statement you're looking for. But it just states the original ethos of the Buchla, which they painstakingly replicated pretty bang-on. I don't have an actual one to compare, but in sound demos it sounds exact. I did have a quick look at the K-Brown thing, tbh I don't think they compare. K-brown's music easel looks like it's made in SynthEdit with very primitive tools, and the audio demos are very low-quality and sound nothing like what I know an easel to sound like. I'd imagine that to be the case if a developer just copies the look and doesn't bother with the circuit, like arturia does ;)
~ Painstaking Replications, Emulations & Imitations ~
I made a somewhat implicit, ironic point above about copying/replicating/emulating/imitating, supported by my quoting both Brown and Arturia about Buchla-- now, in context with your new quote:
"...which they painstakingly replicated..."
Hey great.
In any case, again, maybe try both (and/or some things altogether unique), use your ears/heart/sense of aesthetics/philosophy, etc., and consider your wallet... and even the so-called economic system you and it are attached to.
They're even emulating, maybe even painstakingly, the Korg Poly 800 and Ensoniq SQ80 now.
Maybe this will all fall apart before long, along with civilization, and our descendants, if we manage to survive, will be back to whatever we can scrounge up that sounds musical.
"Animals don't do what humans do via speech, namely, make a symbol stand in for the thing. As Tim Ingold puts it, 'they do not impose a conceptual grid on the flow of experience and hence do not encode that experience in symbolic forms.' " ~ John Zerzan
"...The map is a simulacrum that, as a model, loses all reference to reality... reality exists only as rotting shreds that are attached to the map, and this is the state of our age according to Baudrillard; that the model, itself, has primacy for us; the real has become irrelevant..." ~ Frances Flannery-Dailey
@@glomerol8300 Arturia are not paying me, It's just an unfair comparison if you actually quantify the data given. If you prefer the one, go for it. The video is just my opinion.
