- How to use a spawning brush is all about breeding pond fish like koi, goldfish ,comets and orfs! Super simple set up with great results!
Place the brushes just below the water level, one above the other, at the edge of the pond. This will encourage the fish to spawn, which usually happens in the early hours of the morning, having been preceded by an evening of flurried activity in the pond. The spawning takes several hours, during which most of the eggs will stick to the brushes. After the spawning, it is a good idea to separate the brushes from the broodfish, otherwise the eggs will be eaten. It is best to put the brushes in filtered water of the same temperature as before, and the fry will hatch in 3-6 days. The small fish should be kept separate until they are large enough to be introduced to the pond.

Thanks. Useful info 😊
Cheers Richard glad your finding it useful :)
I've only got the one black knight brush and positioned it just under the surface in a straight line. Not sure when they will start or if they won't at all as never spawned before. In the mean time the brushes are picking up everything in the pond. Algae, floating debris. Will 1 be enough and do i need to get rid of the debris every day?
Parabéns pelo vídeo! Quero testar em meu aquário para corydoras e rasboras! acredito que também sirva para proteger filhotes de camarões.
It does yes marcio
@@TheBaldingReefer a ideia é que a escova sirva para abrigo aos alevinos após eles eclodirem dos ovos grudados no vidro do aquário, correto? 🇧🇷
Hi where did you get your spawning pool from as I am trying to get one for my koi and all I can find are cheap flimsy paddling pools thanks darren
Hi Darren, it was online on preloved
New sub. I've just done the same set up
Legend beefy!
Just ordered some spawning brushes as my large ghost carp is full of eggs and looking for somewhere to spawn, she’s about 10lb in weight will these work for her ? My son sent me your link and I’m definitely following you now 👍🏼
Hey cas, Yep these will definitely work for you! :D
Hi did you have any luck with the brushes on top of the pond ? I need to place mine in soon and was thinking on the bottom !🤔
Yes mate worked really well
Hi there, thanks for the easy to understand video. I have Golden Orf, would it be the same method to spawn them please, many thanks.
Hi Paul, it would indeed
Many thanks, do they spawn at certain times of the year, or just anytime. Thanks.
Water over 18 degrees buddy and they will go when ready mate
Superb, many thanks.
Do you have any videos removing the brushes with the eggs on ?
I don't as of yet but should have one up in the next few weeks, I simply remove the brush and place it in a holding tank
How do you guys clean them once left in a pond far too long?
Take em out, hand em up and blast them with a jet wash mate
@@TheBaldingReefer thank you my friend. That's exactly what I did! Great 👍🏻
